  Dear Saints, Let us look closely at Joseph this Christmas in our present society's quest and chase for what is in it for me. Of course, more has been written and sung about Mary, the virgin mother of Jesus Christ, and rightly so. Let’s see if we can wear the shoes of Joseph and listen to his portion of the Christmas story: “Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. 19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. 20 But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” 22 So all this was d

Dear Saints, In the context of suffering for Christ, Apostle Peter says to the pilgrims: “ For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God;  and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 Now, “If the righteous one is scarcely saved,   Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?” 19 Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.” 1 Peter 4:17-19. What exactly is Peter saying to these suffering pilgrims? Will believers in Christ receive the same judgment as those who do not believe and obey the gospel? Peter had previously established and stated some facts that Jesus suffered for sinners; whosoever believes in Christ will be saved from God’s judgment. Also, see Romans 8:1, for there is no condemnation for all that believe and trust in Christ. Therefore, Peter must be referring to a different type of judgment. Peter calls his a

Dear Saints,   Are you suffering for Christ or just suffering? These two are different. We can suffer for our own making, like being a “busybody in other people's business.” For example, you saw your neighbor’s new car. You bought yours, and now you can barely pay for it, and you are working two jobs and can’t sleep.   When do we suffer for Christ, and why?   We continue our study of 1 Peter. Apostle Peter encourages the suffering pilgrims and us as follows:   “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; 13 but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. 14 If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.   On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified. 15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a

Dear Saints, Even the unbelieving in Christ are asking the same question. Is the world coming to an end? What are we supposed to be doing, and how will we live?   Continuing Covid-19’s devastation, natural disasters, wars and real threats of nuclear catastrophe, increased violence, etc., are causing people to ask, is the end here?   Have you considered that the Jewish people were scattered worldwide for thousands of years? They now exist since 1948 as a nation of Israel. This fulfills God’s promise to bring them back to His land. Dear Saints, This year was very challenging health-wise for my family. My son was hospitalized for an extended period, and I had major health issue. I am sure you have had some challenges, maybe in health, relationships, finances, etc.  I heard a minister say you cannot honestly give thanks to God until you have had things that make you so sad that you would have to dig deep to still thank God. I believe that is in line with Scriptures such as: “But be filled with the Spirit,  19  speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,  20  giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  Ephesians 5:18-20. “16  Rejoice always,  17  pray without ceasing,  18  in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you . 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. Dear Saints, A brother, Shaun, called in from London, England, asking for prayers that God would deliver him from drunkenness and illegal drugs. He called to a worldwide Bible reading/prayer forum called Daily Audio Bible (DAB check it out). Shaun confessed his sin and narrated how he has been back and forth in this lifestyle and hates his condition.   Now, this is an honest brother, and his vulnerability humbled me. I joined many crying out to the Lord to set Shaun free from this bondage of sin. Dear Saints, Where is Jesus? Have you looked for Him lately, and what is He doing now? What is His span of control and authority? We live in a day when we have reduced God to our level of limited knowledge, wisdom and power. We are looking for elected officials to solve our problems instead of looking only to God. In this unsettled mid-term USA election, who cares who has control of the White House and Congress? God is in control of His world. Our trials have left us faithless in God. What about people like Job? We have not gone through what Job went through, and God was still there in the midst of it all. Ten of your children dying in a day? As we continue our study of 1 Peter, we must remind ourselves that Apostle Peter is writing to suffering pilgrims ruled by brutal governments.
