Thank You Lord For 2020

Dear Saints: Thank You Lord for 2020! You may ask, what is there or was there in 2020 to be thankful for? Well let’s remind ourselves of the obvious. I was watching the NBC evening last night. The network ended the news with a long list of who is who that died in 2020. Do I need to say more to us? The fact that you are breathing and reading this is enough to thank God. 2020 was a hard year and the same time a growth year. We thank God. 2020 was a year to determine for ourselves what mattered most. We thank God. 2020 was a great year of God showing His Love and Sovereignty; and that the world belongs to Him. We thank God. 2020 was a year that caused us much hunger and yearning for Jesus and for His soon return. We thank God. 2020 was a year when millions around the world put their trust and faith in God and in our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. We thank God. 2020 was a year of 47 million (worldwide) people being healed/recovered from the COVID-19 infection. We thank God. Yes, 2020 was al

A Foiled Coup In Bethlehem - Merry Christmas!

Dear Saints: The political maneuvering and joggling for power did not start today. Make no mistakes, someone wants to be in charge and be the king or ruler of every nation. You think the political fight between Trump and Biden is anything new; think again. It pales compared to the contest between king Herod and a new King that has been born- King Jesus. Most of the major ingredients are present in all power and kingship contests - fear, lying, deceit, cheating, plots and killings of the innocent (even young children outside and inside the womb). Let’s read the account of the wise men from the East who came to check out the new king.  Matthew 2:2-3;16: “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children w

Don't Be A Diotrephes

Dear Saints: Be careful what you name your children. Diotrephes means “nourished by Jupiter”.  He lived out his name. Instead of being inspired by the Holy Spirit, Diotrephes seem to be inspired by the god of Jupiter, a Greek god. In our last study we met Gaius, whom Apostle John commended for his faith, love for the truth, love for the church and prospering in the things of God. Gaius excelled in hospitality and helped to advance the spread of the Gospel (3 John 1:1-8).  I want to be a Gaius. He is quite different from Diotrephes. Please don’t be a Diotrephes or manifest his spirit. Diotrephes is said to love being “preeminence” among others things. He loves to be first in everything. Do you know of anyone like that? I know you have someone in mind. But we are all potential candidates for seeking preeminence and pushing others aside.   Let’s read more about Diotrephes 3 John 1: 9-10: “I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not recei

Are You Prospering And Do You Want To?

Dear Saints: As we continue our study of 3 John, we are confronted with one of the words of the Bible that has generated so much interest, confusion and heresies. That word is “prosperity” or to “prosper.” In its basic form, it means to “go well” as in a journey. It has been elevated to having material wealth. Some in the church have added good health to material wealth to equate to prosperity based on 3 John 2. They have made a strong following that says and believe that if you are a Christian, you must have wealth and good health otherwise you are not exercising your faith; and “sowing enough seeds” and naming and claiming prosperity. This, in a nutshell is the prosperity gospel from the pit of hell. But is it true? It is true that God wants a general welfare for us as His children but financial success is not an entitlement and a guarantee. God provides for the needs of His children. Prosperity gospel is covetousness which is  idolatry  of a small god (Colossians 3:5). So what is

One On One With God - Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear Saints: One on One with God! Have you ever engaged in any one on one sports like tennis? You can’t run and you can’t hide. Just the two of you on the court. At the end of the day, God our Father and Creator plays a one on one with us from beginning to the end of  life here on earth and also life forever. God is a personal private God who knows us by name. Yes, God knows where you are right now and what you are going through. This is very comforting and very hopeful. Please be at rest and peace. Amen! Today, we start a new study and the third Epistle of John. It’s a private personal letter written by Apostle John to a guy named Gaius. What would a personal letter from God to you and me look like? What would be the issues of primary concern that God will write about? How would you respond to God’s private letter to you? Also what if God’s private letter to you is made public for everyone to read? Let’s just get a peek into God’s one on one with Gaius.  We will get into the details

"Do Not Receive Him Into Your House" - False Teachers/Prophets

Dear Saints: “Do not receive him into your house” Is that really in the Bible? “Do not receive him into your house”? Who is this person? These are the “deceivers” the false prophets/teachers; and there are many of them. These are also the “antichrists” and they are all around us.  How do we know who they are and how do we relate to them? As we conclude our study of the Epistle of 2 John whose theme is the "TRUTH", let’s read the admonition of Apostle John in context, 2 John 7-11: “For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we may receive a full reward. Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor

One with God - the One Church

Dear Saints: People are saying America is divided. But the Church of Jesus is the one divided in America into white and black. It ought not be. America with other nations are being shaken right now but actually the church is the one that God is shaking to refine her for His soon return to take us away from the earth. You and me and everyone born of God, who is a follower of Christ, must start looking inside and begin to demolish the idols in our hearts.  We must get to the point and position of the captain of the Lord’s army who said to Joshua, I am neither for or against but on the Lord’s side (Joshua 5:13-15). We must now stop, fear the Lord and worship Him in His Majesty.  I am again challenged by the words in 1 John 2. We must be redemptive in our position and love a fellow brother and sister in the Lord otherwise we are murderers in the heart.  We have been instructed as follows: "But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whithe

"Not In Strife and Envy"

Dear Saints: Yes, almost everyone is tense not knowing the final outcome of the USA election. First, we thank God that there were no bloodshed during the election and that Americans participated as never before. Whether your candidate is winning or losing right now, may we be reminded and assured of one thing, God is still with us and He loves us very much and died for us.  No one else has ever died to save us from our sins and from the wrath of God except Jesus Christ. No Presidential candidate can and/or should ever take the place of Christ in our lives. We should also rest in the assurance of God’s Word:  " All the ends of the world Shall remember and turn to the  Lord , And all the families of the nations Shall worship before You.  28  For the kingdom  is  the  Lord ’s, And He rules over the nations.”  Psalm 22: 27-28. Yes, the Lord rules over the nations including America. God is in perfect control so let us be at peace at all times.  May I encourage us to read   Romans 13

"Love One Another" Even In An Election

Dear Saints: I experienced a complete laptop malfunction and breakdown this morning. I pressed every button I am aware off - power button, control, alt and delete. Nothing worked. I called the IT desk and the first guy tried his best to assist me. He was recommending a replacement and then transferred me to a second person. This second person said, unplug the power source, simultaneously hold down the escape and power buttons. After about 20 seconds, the Dell logo for the laptop came on. Irrelevant story? Not really. I am reminded of the reboot and new life Christ gave me. I was dead and now I am alive (see Ephesians 2:1-3). I can now function and live the way my Designer and Maker intended. My computer was useless without an intervention. Likewise, our lives are meaningless without God’s divine intervention. In light of this truth, I must live my new life to the glory of my Maker and sustainer and Savior. How? Love God and love others. This is the sum of our lives as we continue our

Are We Really In A Post-Truth Era?

Dear Saints: Are we really in a “Post-Truth” era? The “Post-Modern” world may have just realized it as stated below:  Post-Truth, “It was named Word of the Year in 2016 by the Oxford Dictionary where it is defined as "Relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief".” “ Post-truth politics is a political culture in which debate is framed largely by appeals to emotion disconnected from the details of policy, and by the repeated assertion of talking points to which factual rebuttals are ignored.”  Wikipedia   Here is an example of Truth and Post-Truth I saw in a carton. Truth:  “I think therefore I am”. Post-Truth: “I believe therefore I’m right”. Pilate had asked Jesus , “ What is Truth ?”  Listen to the exchange : 37  Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say  rightly  that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I
