Pull Down Strongholds By God's Might

Good Morning Saints: The enemy fights us in the mind because he cannot destroy us in the spirit where Christ reigns supreme in us. If the devil can mess up your thoughts, then you begin to focus less on what God’s mighty hand can do and focus more on what you can do. Apart from Christ, you can do nothing (John 15:5). Deal with the devil by pulling down every strongholds of the mind that diminishes the truth of God as the only TRUTH, Jesus Christ. We are not fighting people but the Lord who defeated the devil fights for us. Let’s pray and love people and let the power of God go after the devil behind people’s mean and destructive behaviors. What lies is Satan speaking to you today? Have you subjected them to the TRUTH of Christ who loves you and that nothing can separate you from the love of God in Christ? 2 Corinthians 10:3-7: “3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling...

Become Complete and Grow Up - Study 6/14/12

Become Complete and Grow Up How do you really say good bye to the ones you love dearly? And what do you say at the end after you have said so much? We can all remember famous last words of people past gone. Last words are very important. Apostle Paul says good bye to the Corinthians in His Letter until he sees them in person. He is planning a third visit to the Corinthians. In the first visit he spent 18 months with them when the Church was established. Subsequently he made a short visit after writing the First Corinthians Letter. Paul has also sent ministers like Titus to the Corinthians to encourage them. We can see that he loves these people and has vested interest in their welfare as much as God does for His children. Like a good parent, Paul wants to see growth and progress from his spiritual children. Imagine the initial joy of a parent when a child is born. Then imagine the heart and anguish of that parent when the baby has remained the same baby-size and still in diaper...

Am I Really in the Faith? - Study 6/7/12

Am I Really in the Faith? On May 29, 2012, ABC News Good Morning America reported that a “Serpent-Handling West Virginia pastor (Mark Wolford, 44) died after his rattlesnake bit him during a church ritual, just as the man had apparently watched a snake kill his father years before”. Mr. Wolford thought he had faith in God but obviously his faith was in the snake and in himself. God did not fail him the snake failed him. He had faith but in the wrong thing and place. Many in the Church today are playing with “other kinds of snakes” and don’t know it. Many think they are in the “Faith” but are not. The Words of Jesus are so true today than ever before. “13 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because[a] narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it”….. 21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but...

My Weaknesses and God's Power - Study 5/24/12

My Weaknesses and God’s Power Webster dictionary has a couple of entries for the word “weak” and weakness being the state or quality of being weak: “Lacking physical strength, energy, or vigor; feeble. Liable to fail under pressure, stress or strain; Lacking resistance; Lacking firmness of character or strength of will etc”. We are not speaking about weakness as license to continue in personal sin. We are speaking about infirmities, weaknesses, disease, sickness or conditions where you lack the power to change the situation by your own strength and power. There was a fifteen year span of my life when I had the “infertility weakness”. God allowed my wife and me to go through this period of feeling helpless and powerless. A period when we wished things to happen that did not happen. Only God got us thru this painful experience by his power, mercy and grace. I now have other weaknesses and I am trusting God as I cry out to Him. Do you have a God-allowed weakness? Pastor Lon Solomon...

A Different Gospel A Different Jesus - Study 5/10/12

A Different Gospel A Different Jesus In its claim to relate with the present postmodern culture there is now “The Emerging Church Movement”. Google it and read. As summarized by Steven W. Cornell, “They believe the Church should be a welcoming and authentic community of creativity and learning—a place where people with different views are treated with the utmost respect and dignity (rather than being looked down on). ..They desire to move beyond a creed-based identity to a spirituality-based identity. They recommend embracing and celebrating the mystery of the world, life and God rather than conquering it. They prefer theology as a quest for the beauty and truth of God rather than a search for propositional statements, proof texts and doctrinal formulations ----used to measure those who are in and judge those who are out”. One of the big names in this controversial movement is Brian McLaren, a founding pastor of one of the churches in the Washington/Baltimore metro area. On the ...

The War in Our Minds (Spiritual Warfare) 0 Study 5/3/12

The War in Our Minds (Spiritual Warfare) Have you been caught off guard like me? All of a sudden you are involved in a situation that you cannot discern the origin and you are left with self doubts and doubts of who God is and what He can do. You see yourself playing various scenarios is your head and the what-ifs in your relationships. May be I am not making any sense to you and that is the point. There are situations that will never make sense to us and we are just recipients of fragments of unseen warfare going on in the spirit world. Paul saw himself in a similar situation in relating to the Corinthians. Apostle Paul is now defending his authority as a minister having labored and won the Corinthians to Christ. Some false teachers have come and poisoned the minds of some of the Corinthians and brought all kinds of accusations against Paul. Paul by the grace of God recognized what was going on as spiritual warfare. Paul told the Corinthians, “3 For though we walk in the flesh, w...

Maintaining Our Relationships - Study 4/12/12

Maintaining Our Relationships As we continue our study of Paul’s Second Letter, we see consistent theme of the message of reconciliation. It seems that most of life is lived to understand others and to be understood by others. This is how we are able to bear with one another and to maintain our relationships. In today’s study, Paul’s goal is to clear up “old unfinished business” that could impede his relationships with the Corinthians. We all have some “old unfinished business” to deal with. Paul had written the Corinthians a Letter which challenged and caused them to be “sorrowful” because it touched on some serious issues of divisions/quarrels and un-Christ-like characters. We do not know for sure whether the letter is what we now have as First Corinthians or another subsequent letter before what we now have as Second Corinthians. Regardless of which, Paul continues to plead, “Make room for us in your hearts. We have wronged no one, we have corrupted no one, we have exploited ...

Be Not Unequally Yoked - Study 4/5/12

Be Not Unequally Yoked - Study 4/5/12 (Happy Easter) Water and oil cannot mix that is why the people in the gulf region are suffering the contamination of the BP oil spill. Usually the story goes like this. A Christian sister (also brother) meets a guy and falls in love. Unfortunately, this guy is not a believer in Jesus. The Christian sister seeks counsel and consistently those who really love her say, “but he is not a Christian” The sister often would respond, “Oh we are very much in love. I am praying for him and I know he will turn around”. Her mind is made up and they get married. The first two years become like hell on earth and now she is looking for an out; praying, fasting and feeling miserable. This is what I call a failed “missionary marriage”. It often does not work because it is clearly against the specific commands of God. There may be exceptions by God’s special grace. “Be not unequally yoked” applies to all of us not just for marriage. Infact this passage is not ad...

How I Live and How I Reconcile with Others -Study 3/29/12

How I live and how I reconcile with others Someone said that “an unexamined life is not worth living”. How do I really live? How do you live? How do people we consider great men and women of God live? There comes a time in our lives when we have to look deep within and evaluate ourselves - the way we live in light of God’s word and in the eyes of others. We can fool others but we cannot fool ourselves. This is where we are today and this is where I am in my relationships. Apostle Paul has been pleading with the Corinthians to be reconciled to God. Paul understood very well that the vertical reconciliation must be followed by the horizontal reconciliation. We must love God who is above but we must also love our fellow human who is with us. Apostle Paul was direct to the Corinthians knowing that all has not been well between him and them. There have been accusations and counter accusations and hear says by the false teachers. Paul took a deep breath and poured out his heart to the Co...

Be Reconciled to God - Study 3/22/12

Be Reconciled to God Why is it that people of all sorts can understand the most complex issues and matters that will make ones brain spin but miss the most simplest of God’s message. We have scientist who can solve the most difficult mathematical problems and apply them to the point of sending people to the moon and back and yet the simple message of the gospel goes over their heads. This is not restricted to scientist but to all. One answer as stated by Apostle Paul is that the minds of the unbelieving have been blinded by the devil (2 Corinthians 4:4). So I pray today that any of us reading this that the blindness and veil be removed from us in Jesus name. Apostle Paul had taught the Corinthians in person when he first presented the gospel (Acts 18). Now in this Letter 2 Corinthians 5, he summarizes the gospel as the message of reconciliation saying to the Corinthians, “We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. 21 God made him who had no sin to be sin[a] for us, so t...

I am an Ambassador for Christ - Study 3/15/12

I am an Ambassador for Christ The word ambassador carries many immediate impressions when we hear it. Let’s look at some of them. The first is someone who is important, highest ranking, one representing a government usually in a foreign land; one who advances the interest of his nation; someone who may or may not know the indigenous language but at least understand the culture of the foreign land. It also conveys someone who speaks for the leader of his own country. It also speaks of someone whose appointment is not permanent and can be recalled at anytime by the one who sent him/her. It also includes someone who is older and wise. In today’s study, Apostle Paul refers to himself and us as “Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us” 2 Corinthians 5:20. He is pleading with the Corinthians for God. It is a privilege to be called an ambassador for Christ. In the government use of the word, the ambassadors are granted diplomatic immunities but at the same t...
