MARY Christmas 2013

MARY Christmas Let's listen to Mary, as she spoke after being filled with the Holy Spirit. Luke 1: 46-55 46 And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, 47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. 48 For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed. 49 For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name. 50 And His mercy is on those who fear Him From generation to generation. 51 He has shown strength with His arm; He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He has put down the mighty from their thrones, And exalted the lowly. 53 He has filled the hungry with good things, And the rich He has sent away empty. 54 He has helped His servant Israel, In remembrance of His mercy, 55 As He spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and to his seed forever.” What do you and I want to be filled with in this season of our lives? “An angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” 22 So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” Matthew 1:20-23 God has fulfilled His promise to all the earth. Jesus has been born, died and rose from the dead. He has saved us from our sins if and when we believe in Him and trust Him for our salvation. Every waking moment, I am reminded of my inadequacies and my need for Jesus who has saved me from all my sins. “There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus,[a] who do not walk according to the flesh, but acco

Because Christmas season has become associated with the worst in all of us - greed, hoarding, ingratitude, unforgiveness, drunkenness, fake smiles, pleasing people unnecessarily and being irresponsible in spending money we do not have and accumulating debt, family in-fighting, store fights (like this past Black Friday) and the list goes on. Well it is not just during the Christmas season but all year round and all of our lives that brings out the worst in all of us. Sin is our nature and it is not necessarily what we do. We need a Savior and we need tomake peace with God. It is for these and other “worst” sins that the “Son of God” was given. Let’s go back to the beginning of this season as pre-ordained and announced by God. The Son of God who takes away the sins of the whole world has come. That is the joy of this season and not the new gadgets and clothes we give and receive. Do you have th
