The Savior is Born - Merry Christmas!

The Savior is Born – Merry Christmas! Christmas is not for all – Shocking? A savior only comes to save. Save from what? Christ the Messiah came to save us from the wrath and judgment of God. Only God can save us from Himself. The miracle of Christmas is that I recognize by the mercy and grace (favor) of God that I am a sinner needing a Savior. Shocking! Christ did not come for all but only for sinners. 14 “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” Luke 11:14. It is goodwill to people that are favored by God to know that they are sinners (the poor in spirit). Have you been favored to know that you are a sinner needing a Savior? “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him…” —John 6:44. Then Merry Christmas to you otherwise there is nothing merry about Christmas. Christ came to seek and to save the lost. He came for sinners and not for the self-righteous. Let’s give God all our self-righteousness and take Hi

How Can This Be?

How can this be? Something Bigger than You I love Christmas. The impossibilities happen especially if you are a child or childlike. My kids love Christmas. The impossible happen for them. For example, one day they are here in the States; the next day they are thousands of miles away in another continent Africa. Last year, I told them we were going to Nigeria for Christmas. They asked some questions but overall they got excited and expected it. When I informed my children, I was just telling them what mom and dad have already decided to do. They were not being told so as to decide. They went along with us and had the greatest Christmas (80 degrees weather, lots of cousins and friends to play with and share some goodies and etc.). The almighty God was just giving information about His arrival through an angel to Mary. Yes Mary asked question but God had already made up His mind – God was coming down to earth through Mary. It was at the fullness of time. It is okay to ask God questi

The "S" Word

The “S” Word I am not cursing today or ever in this forum or any other. We are talking about the dreaded word in the society and unfortunately in the Church. The “S” word is submit and submitting. There are ongoing demonstrations all across the major cites of USA for justice. "I can't breathe" because I am too proud to submit in the first place. Was excessive force used on Eric Garner? Based on the video, yes. This is why many are crying for justice. However, we must never forget the root of it all - pride and lack of humility and submission. We must all speak to that as well. Submit is all over the Bible. In fact there is no relationship with God or any human without submission. Submit to God and resist the devil we are commanded. In our current study, Paul by the Holy Spirit commands the Ephesians as follows: “But be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20

Letter of Intended Divorce from Jesus

Letter of Intended Divorce from Jesus My Dear Bride I am considering divorcing you for the following reasons. First I took you as my bride and you agreed to our relationship after you had believed me. It was not forced on you and you willingly said yes. I have always loved you. However, I have noticed that we have irreconcilable differences. In fact we have always had irreconcilable differences. The truth is that we had it before I met you. I am holy and will always be. I have never sinned nor will ever sin. For a period, I took on sin and died for sinners like you to reconcile you to my Father. You were born a sinner and right there begins our differences. I have always known it but I had mercy and grace on you and took you on as a bride. Of late I am tired and can no longer tolerate your attitude towards me and how you treat others. In my relationship with you, it has always been about you and what you can get from me. You only come to me when you are in need. There is no i

Giving Thanks to God always for all Things

Giving Thanks to God always for all Things I hear you and you are saying, you must be kidding. “Always for all things”? You are asking me to define “all things”? All things is “all things”, “everything” no exception and inclusive of all things. You are probably also saying maybe “all good things”. I mean “all things”, good and bad. And you also mean “always”? Yes, I mean “always”, every time, regularly. I am not making it up. Let’s look at the Scripture as Paul wrote to the Ephesians: 15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21

What Are You Looking For?

What Are You Looking For? Be Filled With The Spirit God told Abraham I am your exceedingly great reward. God is all we are to look for. We must be filled with Him – His Spirit at all times. Nothing else will satisfy you. Everybody is looking for the same thing. There is emptiness (a void) in each and everyone one of us – saved and unsaved. That emptiness must be filled. There are many ways to fill the void. You can get drunk and drugged. Apostle Paul in Ephesians 5 demands we “be filled with the Holy Spirit”. Listen to Paul: 15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father

Not as Fools, Redeem The Time

Not as Fools – Redeem the Time This is the biblical definition of a fool. “The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” (Psalm 53:1). Also it says, “And whoever spreads slander is a fool” (Proverbs 10:18). “To do evil is like sport to a fool” (Proverbs 10:23). “A fool has no delight in understanding, But in expressing his own heart” (Proverbs 18:2). Apostle Paul referred to the Galatians as foolish. “O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?” Note that Paul did not call them fools but foolish. We can occasionally act foolishly even as believers in Christ but that does not make us fools. It is therefore necessary that we know how fools act in order to be wise. Have you seen a fool or former fool? Look at the mirror. We were once fools because at some point in our lives we l said and lived as if “there is no God”. Now if you still do not have a relationship wit

You are Light in the Lord

You are Light in The Lord I remember growing up in Nigeria without light i.e. electricity supply of light and power. As a young person in my village, I did not look forward to the night fall because it becomes very dark quickly. I used to be very afraid going from one room of the house to the other without the lantern. I dreaded going outside not knowing what was out there. We used kerosene lamps for light and a family may just have one or two for the whole household. It has not changed so much since my childhood in my village and many other parts of the world. When you have electricity 24 hours, you don’t appreciate it until you are in darkness from one of the hurricane storms or some power outage. Without light we cannot exist. Total darkness is the ultimate hopeless. People in the developing World look expectantly to day break because life comes back with light and they can accomplish so much with the natural light. I have seen first-hand utter darkness without any form or trace

Not Even a Hint Among You

Not Even a Hint Among You This is not a comfortable topic but we must deal with the text at hand. Did you hear of a disheartening statistics of Christian singles and sex? According to authors, Pastors Gerald Hiestand and Jay Thomas, 80% of Christian singles ages 18 to 29 are having sex. It is called the “hookup culture”. Of those surveyed, 75% of those having sex outside of marriage said it is wrong but they are still doing it. The authors wrote a book titled Sex, Dating and Relationships – A Fresh Approach. They claimed that the above national statistics is actually higher when they independently survey their own churches. I do not know what to make of the statistics but God does through His Word and the Holy Spirit. The devil is liar. He encourages the unmarried to defile themselves and discourages the married from enjoying their union with one another. The marriage bed is undefiled (Hebrews 13:4). Let’s say no to Satan’s two lies. In today’s study, Apostle Paul addresses this

KTF - Kind, Tenderhearted and Forgiving

KTF- Kind, Tenderhearted and Forgiving I thank God I have a KTF Father, my heavenly father. What will I do without his tender loving kindness and forgiveness? What will you do if you did not have God’s KTF? Last week in our study of Ephesians, we examined some of the vices and sins we need to “put away”. They were lying, wrath, anger, clamor, malice, evil speaking, and unforgiveness. Today we examine the fruit of the Spirit we need to produce and display on a daily basis in our pursuit of “walking worthy of our calling”. “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples”. John 15:8. A disciple and follower of Jesus must bear fruit that will last forever. Let’s listen to Apostle Paul as he writes to the Ephesian Church. Ephesians 4:25-32: 25 Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,”[e] for we are members of one another. 26 “Be angry, and do not sin”:[f] do not let the sun go down on your wrath, 27 nor g

Do Not Grieve the Holy Spirit

Do Not Grieve the Holy Spirit I went to pick up my clothes from the cleaners yesterday Sunday. I had just finished listening to a sermon on the car radio by Pastor Lon Solomon. He had encouraged people to make the right choices this day, week and their lives as a way to identify with Jesus being the center of their lives. Here I am, excited with this encouraging message and now leaving the dry cleaner to drive home. I joined the road and needed to head the opposite direction to get home. To do so, I stayed on the left lane and entered an exit that takes you into a shopping center. I thought this is my opportunity to make a U-turn until I saw the sign that says no U-turn. Guess what I did? I made the U-turn. Instantly pastor Lon’s admonition about making the right choice flashed all over me. I could not believe what I had just done. I felt shamed and sorrowful. I also became a living an example of rebellion and saw what was in my heart. I had just grieved the Holy Spirit of God that w

Put Off the "old man" and Put On the "new man"

Put Off the “old man” and Put On the “new man” Please meet Domingo and Irene Garcia. Domingo got Irene pregnant when both were 16 years in high school. They subsequently married with the reluctant permission of their parents. Domingo had long history with police of arrests and short imprisonments. He was drinking heavily and doing other unprintable things. He would come home and beat the wife Irene. Irene felt like she was in prison and the only weapon she had was her mouth which she used to tear and shred Domingo into pieces which resulted to more beatings. There was no hope for this couple until Christ got hold of them. This is a powerful story of redemption and transformation as told by Domingo and Irene on FamilyLife Today radio program. It is not and endorsement of spousal physical abuse and if you are in that situation, please get immediate help. “Domingo and Irene Garcia gave their lives to Christ, miracles happened. Hear Domingo and Irene share how God filled their hearts

Futility of their Mind

Futility of their Mind Olsen et al.,in their book Viewing the World Ecologically ,referred to “Worldviews as ‘mental lenses’ or cognitive and perceptual maps that we continually use to find our way through the social landscape surrounding us….The dominant worldview in the culture of a society normally pertains to the totality of human existence and most aspects of social life. Virtually everything that we experience is shaped by the perceptions provided by our view of the world. Since the dominant worldview is generally held by most members of that society, it normally establishes the culturally accepted definitions of social reality…For example, a recent survey of college students in the United States found that over one-third of them believe that ghosts exist, and two-fifths of them believe that it is possible to communicate with the dead (Eve 1988).” Apostle Paul has by the power of the Holy Spirit documented the World’s prevailing worldview in Ephesians 4:17-24. TO and FRO Saint

TO and FRO Saint Immaturity! There are people (no fault of theirs) who have a condition where they grow old but still in the childlike body and mannerisms. Metro News had the following headline with photo: 26- year-old man with body of a two-year- old. “Jerly Lyngdoh – who lives with his farmer parents in Meghalaya, northern India – looks like any other tot with his tiny head and delicate 2ft 9ins long body. But it’s only when he opens his mouth to reveal a full set of adult teeth that the truth about the world’s oldest baby is revealed…Said pediatrician Dr. J. Ryndong, ‘We think this is a case of pan-hypo pituitarism leading to poor secretion of growth hormones from the pituitary gland…Jerly – who is still dressed in baby clothes by his parents”. We empathize and pray for such people and God is taking care of them. In our study today, Paul instructs the Ephesians not to be “To and Fro” believers in Christ acting like infants. Let’s listen to the Holy Spirit thru Paul, Ephesians 4

Pastor or a Pester?

Pastor or a Pester? Pastor or a Pester? Yes, you heard me. Which one are you or which one(s) do you have in your local church assembly? A Pester harasses with petty annoyance; bother and nag continually. Continuing with our study in Ephesians, God has given His Church equipping gifts so we can “walk worthy of our calling”. 7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift…11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:7-13 I read the following in a Devotional titled, ‘Love Your Pastor’. “Pastors have a tough job. They get more kicks than kisses. If a pastor is young he lacks experience; if he’s gray-haired he’s too old

The Equipping Gifts to the Church

The Equipping Gifts to the Church I can think of the NASCAR race and those on the sideline whose job it is to get the cars and drivers ready to run the race. They also quickly fix the cars when they brake and put them back into the race. I also can think of the coaches for many games that stay by the side to coach and encourage the players so they can do what they were meant to do – play and win games. That is how I would like to think of those whom God have given the Church to equip us to live out our lives for Jesus and run this race we have been called to. In Ephesians 4, we see Paul giving us examples of four gifts and graces God has given the Church. These are just examples and not an exhaustive list namely Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors/Teachers. Paul writes as follows: 7 But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift… 11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12
