Get Wisdom From God

Get Wisdom From God. It is amazing that about 25 years of classroom learning (preschool, Kindergarten, elementary, middle school, High school, college, graduate school and post-graduate) does not impact wisdom to any human. We receive knowledge but not wisdom. This is confirmed by everyday living and observation of people. We have seen, heard or read many stories of people with the most education doing things that even a child would not do. We shake our heads and wonder, and say, “and this person is a doctor, a PhD, etc?” We may gain some worldly wisdom but not God’s wisdom. The wisdom of God comes to us by God revealing His wisdom to us. Another word for God’s wisdom is mystery (it is that which cannot be obtained by unaided human reasons). Mystery is “the secret purposes of God that he reveals only to his chosen prophets and apostles”, for example God’s revelation to Apostle Paul (Roman 11:25). God’s wisdom saves us from death and dying as we will see in the case of Daniel and frien...

The Invisible Hand of God

The Invisible Hand of God When I was a youngster, we had to flee our home and town to run for our lives. We became refugees in a ‘foreign land’. It was the Nigerian-Biafra civil war. My tribe was the nation of Biafra that wanted to secede from Nigeria. Up to 2 million people lost their lives through fighting and starvation of the Biafran civilians. Meet Daniel (and friends), another youngster who was swept away to a foreign land as a result of war. Daniel was Jewish and his nation has encountered the invisible hand of God. Judah/Israel had been having their way in disobedience and God decided to let them have it. For a life time, Daniel was caught in the middle. Have you been caught in the middle and in a foreign land? Will Daniel become bitter and go around singing the ‘sorry –sympathy song like we do so often? Let’s see how Daniel will relate to this God who has allowed him to become a captive in a barbarian and godless Babylon. Daniel 1: 1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoi...

God is Sovereign - The Book of Daniel (introduction)

God is Sovereign – The Book of Daniel (introduction) Watching the world events of recent times, you begin to wonder who is in charge and who is running the world. We have heard and observed calamities after calamities, wars and rumors of wars and massacres of innocent peoples. Now with the internet and television, we watch the world events as they unfold in Haiti (earthquake), China and Asia (floods), Africa (hunger) and oppression by rulers all over the globe. We do not even need to go too far before asking the question of who is in-charge. Our personal lives and lives of those around us sometimes take a turn and all of a sudden it seems the bottom is falling off. In these series of studies, we are introduced to the sovereignty of God in the Book of Daniel. God is sovereign. This is the theme of the Book of Daniel. “The Most High God is sovereign over the kingdoms of men” Daniel 5: 21. Sovereignty defined by Webster is “supremacy of authority or rule and complete independence and se...
