Which Jesus? Happy Holy & Resurrection Week!

Which Jesus? Which Jesus do you want released – Jesus Barabbas or Jesus the Messiah? Which Jesus are you following? Let’s not make mistakes, we are still making the same choices even today. Everyone living is choosing the Jesus they want. Which have you or me chosen? Please read the account of previous choices made. “15 Now it was the governor’s custom at the festival to release a prisoner chosen by the crowd. 16 At that time they had a well-known prisoner whose name was Jesus[b] Barabbas. 17 So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, “Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?”…20 But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed. 21 “Which of the two do you want me to release to you?” asked the governor. “Barabbas,” they answered. 22 “What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?” Pilate asked. They all answered, “Crucify him!” 23 “Why? What ...

Love God, Love People

Love God, Love People This is it? Yes. This is the summary of the commandments and what God requires of us and requires of all people. I can love God, but I am not sure about loving people. I want to please God and obey his commandments, but can I really love God or people on my own? Let’s read what Jesus said to one smart lawyer who wanted to know the greatest commandment. “34 But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. 35 Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?” 37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[d] 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’[e] 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:34-40. The context is the continued efforts of the Jewish autho...

The Resurrection and Stephen Hawking's Death

The Resurrection and Stephen Hawking’s Death Why would the Sadducees who don’t believe in the resurrection ask Jesus about marriage in the resurrection? Because they are “sad you see." Yesterday it was reported that one of the smartest people living has died. He was Stephen Hawking, the physicist. We thank God for his contribution to advancement of science. This is what Hawking said about God. “Before we understand science, it is natural to believe that God created the universe. But now science offers a more convincing explanation,” he said. “What I meant by ‘we would know the mind of God’ is, we would know everything that God would know, if there were a God, which there isn’t. I’m an atheist.” Hawking further said, “God is the name people give to the reason we are here,” he said. “But I think that reason is the laws of physics rather than someone with whom one can have a personal relationship. An impersonal God.” On heaven, Hawking said, “I regard the brain as a compute...

Are You a Hypocrite (Actor or Actress)?

Are You a Hypocrite (Actor or Actress)? Many flock to Hollywood, Bollywood, Nollywood and all the “Woods” around the world to become the best actors and actresses. We celebrate them and pay outrageous high prices for their performances. A hypocrite is an actor or an actress, a pretender, a deceiver, and a liar. A hypocrite is one who dares you to discover their true self and nature. They are masters in disguising. Jesus has no kind words for hypocrites as we find in our lesson today. “18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test Me, you hypocrites?” Matthew 22:18. How can we test or tempt God who made the eyes and sees all things visible and invisible? Hypocrisy is the most foolish thing anyone can do. We can sometimes fool our fellow humans but we cannot fool God. Before we even speak, God already knows what is in our hearts and what we will say. It is ridiculous to be a hypocrite. We all are and have been hypocrites. God abhors hypocrisy. What does God w...

Many are Called Few are Chosen

Many are called Few are Chosen I love weddings because everyone is happy on this day both the bride, groom and their guests. The biggest wedding of our time is coming up this April, 2018. Britain is marrying America and specifically African American. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are getting married. Three continents (Europe, America and Africa) are coming together in a way unimaginable in the past. The Queen and her kingdom are having the greatest party and spread of all time. These are the hottest invitation tickets in the world. Even country Presidents are not sure of receiving invitation. But now imagine that the majority in Britain are invited to the wedding. Imagine that all shunned the invitation and on that day, all went about their business. Even worse, the British and Buckingham police who came to remind them of the wedding were killed by the invitees. The wedding still must take place so the Queen decided to invite any and every one (the commoners, the poor and the bad...
