"Love One Another" Even In An Election

Dear Saints: I experienced a complete laptop malfunction and breakdown this morning. I pressed every button I am aware off - power button, control, alt and delete. Nothing worked. I called the IT desk and the first guy tried his best to assist me. He was recommending a replacement and then transferred me to a second person. This second person said, unplug the power source, simultaneously hold down the escape and power buttons. After about 20 seconds, the Dell logo for the laptop came on. Irrelevant story? Not really. I am reminded of the reboot and new life Christ gave me. I was dead and now I am alive (see Ephesians 2:1-3). I can now function and live the way my Designer and Maker intended. My computer was useless without an intervention. Likewise, our lives are meaningless without God’s divine intervention. In light of this truth, I must live my new life to the glory of my Maker and sustainer and Savior. How? Love God and love others. This is the sum of our lives as we continue...

Are We Really In A Post-Truth Era?

Dear Saints: Are we really in a “Post-Truth” era? The “Post-Modern” world may have just realized it as stated below:  Post-Truth, “It was named Word of the Year in 2016 by the Oxford Dictionary where it is defined as "Relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief".” “ Post-truth politics is a political culture in which debate is framed largely by appeals to emotion disconnected from the details of policy, and by the repeated assertion of talking points to which factual rebuttals are ignored.”  Wikipedia   Here is an example of Truth and Post-Truth I saw in a carton. Truth:  “I think therefore I am”. Post-Truth: “I believe therefore I’m right”. Pilate had asked Jesus , “ What is Truth ?”  Listen to the exchange : 37  Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say  rightly  that I am a king. For this ...

Walk in Truth & Love - 2nd Epistle of John

Dear Saints: We are getting another dose of the Second Epistle (Letter) of Apostle John. This one is very short, just one chapter. It is almost a repeat of the First Epistle which we just finished studying. When God repeats the same things to us, it must be very important. In sum, God is saying, walk/live in the truth and love one another.   TRUTH IS EVERTHING. JESUS IS THE TRUTH. We must live in the TRUTH, in Jesus. Anything else is a deception and we must know the TRUTH so we can look out and recognize deception and lies. The Letter was addressed to the “ Elect Lady and her Children, whom I love in truth ”. Some think it is to a person and some say it is to a local house church.  “Elect Lady” may have been a code name to protect people in that time of intense persecution of the church.   We must be wise/sensitive in our methods and approaches for spreading the Gospel especially these days of heightened tension and anxieties. Our delivery and methods may...

Recap of Study of Epistle of 1 John

We will recap our study of the first Epistle of John as we have completed the study. My take away: God is Love therefore we must love one another if we claim to have God in us and are “born of God”. Also that Jesus, the Son of God is God  who came in a human body. Jesus was 100% God and 100% human for the sake of atoning for the sins of the whole world.  Any other understanding or teaching about Jesus is false (antichrist) and therefore, we must keep away from such idols that are not the true God, Jesus Christ who is Himself Eternal Life. Bottom-line : “ 10  He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself; he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has given of His Son .   11  And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.  12  He who has the Son has  [ d ] life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life ...

What/Who Could Be or Is Your Idol?

Dear Saints: What/who could be or is my idol? What/who could be or is your idol? You may say what an insulting question. Well, if you don’t ask, and answer the question you will not know what and who is your idol and how deep you are worshiping this idol. Today as we end the study of John's First Epistle, we are confronted with the issue of idols in our hearts. If idol worship isn't a possibility for Christians, why would Apostle John warn us? Let’s hear apostle John ; 1 John 5:18-21  : " We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them.  19  We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.   20  We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God an...
