Giving Thanks To God Even For & In Pain - Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear Saints, This year was very challenging health-wise for my family. My son was hospitalized for an extended period, and I had major health issue. I am sure you have had some challenges, maybe in health, relationships, finances, etc.  I heard a minister say you cannot honestly give thanks to God until you have had things that make you so sad that you would have to dig deep to still thank God. I believe that is in line with Scriptures such as: “But be filled with the Spirit,  19  speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,  20  giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”  Ephesians 5:18-20. “16  Rejoice always,  17  pray without ceasing,  18  in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you . 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18. So, can we give thanks “ in everything ”...

Have We Ceased From Sin & Sinning? - Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear Saints, A brother, Shaun, called in from London, England, asking for prayers that God would deliver him from drunkenness and illegal drugs. He called to a worldwide Bible reading/prayer forum called Daily Audio Bible (DAB check it out). Shaun confessed his sin and narrated how he has been back and forth in this lifestyle and hates his condition.   Now, this is an honest brother, and his vulnerability humbled me. I joined many crying out to the Lord to set Shaun free from this bondage of sin. Please pray for Shaun; thank you.   As we continue our study of 1 Peter, the apostle through the Holy Spirit confronts the pilgrims and us with the sins of our old lives before we believed and trusted in Christ. Let’s hear Peter:   4 Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, f or he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, 2 that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men,...

Where Is Jesus, His Authority And Power?

Dear Saints, Where is Jesus? Have you looked for Him lately, and what is He doing now? What is His span of control and authority? We live in a day when we have reduced God to our level of limited knowledge, wisdom and power. We are looking for elected officials to solve our problems instead of looking only to God. In this unsettled mid-term USA election, who cares who has control of the White House and Congress? God is in control of His world. Our trials have left us faithless in God. What about people like Job? We have not gone through what Job went through, and God was still there in the midst of it all. Ten of your children dying in a day? As we continue our study of 1 Peter, we must remind ourselves that Apostle Peter is writing to suffering pilgrims ruled by brutal governments. Peter’s audience is eagerly waiting for the appearance of the Lord Jesus Christ. His Epistle is for the end time people, and that is who we are. Let's hear Peter: "There is also an antitype which n...

Who Raised Jesus From The Dead & Why Does It Matter?

Dear Saints, Who raised Jesus from the dead? And why does it matter to us? We are encountering more questions in our study of 1 Peter that demand answers. Listen to Apostle Peter in 1 Peter 1:20-21: “He [Jesus] indeed was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you 21 who through Him believe  in God, who raised Him from the dead  and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.” Here, Peter said God raised Jesus from the dead. Now, in 1 Peter 3:18 we read, “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but  made alive by the Spirit. ” Here, the Holy Spirit is the one that raised Jesus Christ from  the dead, that is “made alive.” And then, we hear directly from Jesus Christ: “Jesus answered and said to them, “ Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”  20 Then the Jews said, “It has taken forty-...

Are We Saved By Water Baptism?

Dear Saints, Are we saved by water baptism? In other words, is water baptism required to enter into eternal life and be with Christ forever? I get it. You are saying why are you asking me these hard questions like the last study on whether there is second chance for salvation after death. Simple. We are doing Bible study. We need answers to hard questions we encounter as we read the Bible. As we continue our study of 1 Peter, we see another difficult passage. Let's hear Apostle Peter: "For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring   us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,  19  by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison,  20  who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while  the  ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.  21   There is also an antitype whic...

Is There A Second Chance For Salvation After Death?

Dear Saints Is there a second chance for salvation after death? No, no, and no. Why? “He[Christ] has appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.  27  And as  it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment ,  28  so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.” Hebrews 9:26-28. As we continue our study of 1 Peter, we will see the source of this false notion, theology, or belief of a second chance for salvation after death. Bad translation from Greek to English is the primary reason for the false notion of salvation after death. The key word here is “preach” (evangelize) as opposed to “proclaim;” in the case of the King proclaiming His authority and rule). The King James and some other translations used preached instead of proclaim.  Now in the context of Jesus’ suffering, his death and burial, and resurrecti...

Christ Suffered Once For Sins. So What?

Dear Saints Christ Suffered Once Sins. So What? We were all shocked at the brutality in the movie “The Passion of the Christ.”(Mel Gibson, 2004). If you have never watched it you may want to but be warned that your stomach may turn upside down.  The horrific physical violence against Christ is the worst any living human ever encountered. Even worse is the rejection of Jesus by His Father because of sin. A just God must punish sin and He is required to by His own law. “The soul that sins must die.” Why did Christ have to suffer and die? Paul summarized it as follows: “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” 2 Corinthians 5: 21. A perfect, sinless God humbled himself, became a human, and lived a perfect, sinless human life to assume the sins of humans to die for humans for their punishment for sins.. The suffering and sacrifice of Christ is the best news ever for humanity, and we call it the Gospel. It’s the best exchang...
