Sheerah, Ephraim's Daughter

[23] "Afterward Ephraim slept with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. Ephraim named him Beriah because of the tragedy his family had suffered. [24] He had a daughter named Sheerah. She built the towns of Lower and Upper Beth-horon and Uzzen-sheerah."
1 Ch.7.23-24 -NLT.

Can we talk about the big elephant in the room? Yes.

Please read the above scripture and notice Sheerah, Ephraim's daughter. Context: Ephraim's two sons had gone to steal livestock and were killed in the process. Ephraim grieved so much for them. Then he had another son afterwards.

But it was Sheerah, his daughter who built thriving towns when in that culture then, women were just seen and not heard from. Now, let's talk about today?

The big elephant in the room is this false notion and narrative among the Africans/other cultures and especially the Igbos that you must have boys/males to belong; and if you only have girls as children, you haven't arrived.

Let's learn from Sheerah and countless renowned women of the ages past and the present.

My brother and sister,  please rejoice and thank God for all your female-only children. Give them opportunities to build towns, cities and empires to the glory of God.

You, the female-only parents should feel complete and fulfilled in all aspects of life. Please dethrone the societal expectations of 'you must have boys/males' if God hasn't given you any so far or never.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 apply here:

[3] "We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. [4] We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. [5] We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ." - NLT.

I am not trying to start a fight here but let's get your input. Let's thank God for all our children (boys and girls) and pray for them that God will help them build the lasting kingdom of God as the Lord leads them. Amen.

Let's avoid the consequences of the falsehood that lead to women dying in pregnancy/delivery while pursuing to bear a male child, husbands marrying multiple wives just to have male children and/or having secret affairs with sidechicks to have male children. 

And also, wives, sleeping with boyfriends/other men just to have males and then lie to their husband that the male child is from him. May God help us and deliver us in Jesus name. Amen.
