Real Change of Heart

Real Change of Heart

I looked up the word “Change” in the dictionary and noted among other meanings, the following: “1. To cause to be different; alter. 2. To give a completely different form or appearance to; transform, 3. To lay aside, abandon, or leave for another; switch.”
In order to alter, transform or switch anything, which means change its original state; there must be an external force outside of that which is being changed. Nothing has ever and will ever change by itself without outside pressure or influence and that includes human beings too.

Real change is at the transformational level, meaning there must be a change in the nature, function or condition of a thing or a person. For a tree to become paper that we write on, it undergoes a series of transformation. A tree by itself cannot just turn into paper.
Are you looking for real change in your life or the life of a loved one or even an adversary? How is it going to happen or what will cause the change to take place? Please read as apostle Paul, having described the evil heart of the human race (Romans 1:18-32) concludes and offers the solution.

Romans 2: 28-29
28 For you are not a true Jew just because you were born of Jewish parents or because you have gone through the ceremony of circumcision. 29 No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not merely obeying the letter of the law; rather, it is a change of heart produced by God’s Spirit. And a person with a changed heart seeks praise from God, not from people.

The only person who can change our evil heart is God himself through the work of His Holy Spirit. The knowledge and understanding of this fact changes the way we see our selves and others. It also transforms our prayer lives. Do you want a change? Then ask the Holy Spirit to produce the change in “nature, function or condition”. It is called remaking or being born again. “5 Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit.6 Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life.7 So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.” (John 3:5-7).

The Holy Spirit breathed new life on us to make us new creations in Christ. He will again, do the same in every other heart that must be changed. Do you have a loved one or friends that need change? Pep talk would not do it but the Holy Spirit can and will.

Who is initiating change in your life or the lives of those you concerned about? If it is not produced by the conviction of the Holy Spirit, it is only a superficial change and it will not last. Also notice that the change produced by the Holy Spirit will seek and receive praise from God and not from people. Have you been trying to change yourself by yourself in order to please people? Or have you been trying to change others? You can’t. Give it up.

The word of the Lord and his method has not changed. The word He gave to Zerubbabel, the Lord gives us the same today.

6 So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty. 7 "What are you, O mighty mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become level ground. Then he will bring out the capstone to shouts of 'God bless it! God bless it!' " (Zechariah 4:6-7).

So I ask you the same question. What is the mountain, problem, life style, run away, way- ward child; difficult husband or wife; impossible boss or whatever that is before you today? There is only one solution. It is by the Spirit of the Lord that it will crumble. Stop applying your might (money) or power (even little tricks). Let the Holy Spirit do His change work in you and I and in others you are concerned about.

Lord, breathe your Holy Spirit once again on us and on all that face us, in Jesus name amen. Ask God to breathe His Holy Spirit on you and on all that you want changed.
