Put on Your Armor – The Belt of TRUTH.
We have seen the recent barbaric acts by ISIS, the beheading of 21 Egyptian Christians in addition to the other past beheadings. Horrific and must not be tolerated and must be condemned and brought to justice. ISIS is a concoction from hell inspired by Satan - the "spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places".
We must also accept the "TRUTH" that the beheadings are no different from the worldwide extermination of millions of innocent babies in the womb. WHO estimates 40-50 million annually (125,000 abortions per day). In the United States, it is about 3000 abortions per day. Instead of the ISIS knife, we are using a different kind of surgical abortion knife to sacrifice the unborn at the altar of convenience.
Abortion is equally as heinous as ISIS and inspired by Satan and must be condemned and not tolerated and not practiced. The unfortunate thing is that our governments as well as the educated, the uneducated, the rich and the poor sanction and practice this uncivilized extermination of the unborn. The protection of life has been a spiritual warfare from beginning. It has been a war declared by God between the seed of the woman and the seed of the serpent, Satan (Genesis 3:15). As God’s soldiers, we must fight this and other spiritual warfare wearing the armor of the belt of TRUTH – “a thick leather strap to gird all loose clothing, doesn’t give the opponent anything to grab”.
Listen to Paul in Ephesians 6:10-12:
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[c] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.
What is truth? Even Pilate asked the same question. Truth is the person of our Lord Jesus Christ. Speaking to Nicodemus, “6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”. John 14:6
Do you have the TRUTH? We will not take it for granted that everyone reading this piece already has the truth in them. If you do not believe and trust Jesus as Lord and Savior, then you do not have nor know the truth. Truth in this regard is telling oneself and accepting the truth that you are a sinner, needing a savior – for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Until you come to this truth and humble yourself and cry out to God to save you from the impending wrath of sin, you have not started living in the truth.
Truth is also what we live. We must tell ourselves and others the truth at all cost. Remember truth is an armor and when we lie, we weaken our girdle and open up avenues for Satan’s attack. “Being truthful (integrity) doesn’t give Satan anything to grab”. If you are in the habit of telling lies without winking, ask God to take away a lying tongue from you. We are not liars because liars have a father – the devil, the father of all lies. Satan will tempt us to lie in order to preserve self. Let’s stand with Jesus and loose our lives for His sake and we will gain it back.
Truth as armor of our spiritual warfare draws me to God and to submit to God. “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” and Satan will flee from you. Jesus said to the woman at the well, “ 23 But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. 24 God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:23.
“I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. John 14:16-17. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth John 16:13. The world does not know the truth and they do not want you to know the truth like abortion.
Are you anchored and armored with the Truth and by the Truth? Jesus said we shall know the truth and the truth shall make us free. Jesus frees us from every shackle of sin and hold of Satan.
Please do not patronize me by just agreeing. We must go beyond acknowledgement and agreement and do something as the body of Christ to live in the TRUTH. If we are going to fight this spiritual fight, we must fight as Jesus instructed to “overcome evil with good”. We must take to heart the words of James and do something and not just be hearers only. “27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world” James 1:27.
It is not enough to condemn abortion and not do anything to adopt, and or support those who are born out of wedlock or any other circumstances – the fatherless and the widows. Ask God what He wants you to do for orphans and widows and the fatherless.
Oh you may be saying how you dare compare abortion to ISIS. It is the truth. Why pick on abortion and what about poverty or other ills in the society? It does not matter; just do something on any one of them. Overcome evil with good – this is true spiritual warfare. Speaking about Satan as “roaring as a lion seeking whom to devour”, Charles Spurgeon said, “We may learn to go about like good Samaritans, seeking whom we may bless!”
Dear Holy Spirit of God, the Spirit of Truth, please abide in us and help us to live in the truth, tell the truth, stand for the truth and defend the truth while resisting the devil by your power. Amen.
