Why is America Angry and Raging?
There is rage all over America - on the streets, at homes, on TV, and even in the churches. There are demonstration in many cities and people are shouting at each other. There are accusations and counter accusations of racism and whose life matter and who does not matter. Then there is the election and the utter hatred and disdain for the presidential candidates.
Why America why? The rage is a camouflage and it is really a rage against God.
“Why do the nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying, 3 “Let us break their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from us.” Psalm 2:1-3. The nations rage and so America rage.
The rage is all against God and his Anointed One, the Son of God, the Messiah, the Christ. When we have said no to God as a nation we are raging. We have enacted laws in our land that are clearly contrary to God's Word on marriage. We have “cast away their cords from us” and any restrain from God’s word. We have spilled the blood of millions of the unborn from the womb and now it is flowing on the streets of America in senseless killings of the living ones. Woe to the nation who calls evil good and calls good evil.
We have denied justice to the poor and the innocent. We are raging but our minds are blinded to the roots of the rage. We are all raging and disliking one another (especially other races and culture) because we have refused to see others as made in God's image. We have refused to trust God to take care of us and the other person. We think we can take care of ourselves and fix what is wrong in the other people.
We as a nation are raging against the presidential candidates because they have become a mirror to us. We don't like what see in the mirror. We forget we are no better than Hillary or Trump. Both are the true face of America - all have sinned. Neither are the present/past presidents or candidates any better. We see the lies, the stealing and racism and we deny any of such in us. Let's raise our hands of those who have never before stolen, lied or cheated or had racist/tribalist thoughts. I cannot raise my hands and I hope you did not raise your hand. God has chosen to magnify America's sin of pride and arrogance through Hillary and Trump.
I pray for America and the Church the words of Jesus in Revelation 3:15-22. “17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see”.
Is there hope for us as a people and as a nation? Yes. “Christ in me the hope of glory”. Christ is the only hope we have as a Church that we can offer people. Let's turn the debate around and offer hope to people. Many of us have spent great passion and energy defending or selling either Hillary or Trump. I submit to you that many of us have not for a single minute throughout this year opened our mouths to tell any about Christ and the hope we have in him. It is not late. With same and greater passion for your candidate, you can use it for Christ during this election to introduce people to Christ – the only HOPE.
America is raging because her good works are no longer enough and will never be enough. The pride of America is in showing how great a nation we are and what we can do for ourselves. Our “All-right” and “All-left” movements have failed; Wall Street and our capitalist greed have failed; Our welfare programs and our policing have failed; Our “name it and claim it prosperity gospel” void of the cross of Christ has failed. The rage will continue until we turn to what Christ has already done on the Cross and we receive by grace through faith the Son of God.
America be wise and fear God. ”Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the LORD with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. 12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him” Psalm 2:10-12.
America must kiss God's Son lest He be angry and America perish in the way. There is no more time for political correctness but for Godly correctness and Christ's righteousness and not self-righteousness. There is only one plan of salvation and He is the person of Jesus Christ. Will America, you and me kiss and submit to Christ today - Christian, non-Christian, Jew or Gentile, Moslem or Hindu, Arab, African, European, Russian, Asian, gay or straight and etc.?
There is enough of God's grace at the cross for all of us. While we were sinners Christ died for all. Let's see and seize the opportunity to come back to Christ with humility, repentance and call others to Him. Let's ask the Holy Spirit to empower us to follow and live for Christ at all costs.
May God bless America and all nations of the earth with the revelation of His Son Jesus Christ. Let's continue to pray God's mercies and grace on America and for our friends and neighbors and all nations (people groups) and tell them to put their trust in Christ the Lord and Savior.Let’s not forget to show Christ’s love and be kind and respectful to all people especially this election season.
P.S. Let's go out and vote prayerfully for any candidate of our choice as the Holy Spirit leads. At least consider and compare each party's platform https://billygraham.org/story/2016-party-platforms/ to see which reflects the most biblical principles and biblical values. Voting for Hillary or Trump does not make you more or less of a Christian and we should not make others feel same. Neither is it a crime and sin for an evangelical to be a democrat and an African American to be a republican. Remember God has used a donkey and or horse in the past and he can use a Donald or a Hillary to accomplish His purposes. So please chillax! Let's pray for the two candidates and others to have true relationship with Jesus and not end up in hell like anyone else that does not know Christ. God is still on the throne and in control and in charge on November 9th regardless of who wins. We must trust and depend only on our Lord and not on the next president.
