Are You Jesus' Brother or Sister?
Are you Jesus' brother or sister?
Many know Jesus Christ. I trust you know Him or have been acquainted with Him. Jesus is a household name even among other religions or even the agnostics. Many would love to be identified with someone popular and good.
While Jesus was here on earth, many envied his mother and brothers and sisters. They wished they were Jesus' brother or sister or even his mother. Even in our day, many would wish they are parents or sibling of some great athlete or celebrity. Jesus is more than a celebrity. He is the Son of God. To be Jesus’ brother or sister, you must have the same Father and you must be a child of God. Everyone is not a child of God contrary to popular erroneous believe.
Would you like to be a brother or sister of Jesus? Listen to Jesus as He shocks His audience.
46 While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. 47 Then one said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.”
48 But He answered and said to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?”49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers!50 For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.” Matthew 12:46-50.
Woo. That is very serious. Your natural birthright or birth place will not earn you a place with God. Only those who do and continue to do the will of the Father are Jesus’ brother or sister.
What is the will of the Father? Jesus would later say in John 6: 39-40:
38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.39 This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. 40 And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
Jesus is the will of the Father to the world. To know Jesus is to know God's will. When you know Jesus as Lord and savior, Jesus and the Father come to live in you by the presence of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the one capable of carrying out God's will.
Long answer short. Do you know Jesus? Do you have a relationship with Him as a brother or sister? It's not a question of performance and doing good works. Yes He wants us to do good works but He has already done the work in accordance with the Father's will. Jesus died on Cross for the sins of the whole world. There is no greater work than the Cross. The Cross has fulfilled the Father's will.
To be Jesus' brother/sister you must be born from the Father.
“10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own,[c] and His own[d] did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:10-13.
If you are a brother or sister of Jesus, you gain everlasting life and resurrection from the dead. What a great benefit. What a great savior and what a great Lord.
Are you a brother or sister of Jesus? Ask now for God to grant you the right to become his child. Amen. Don’t miss having a relationship with Jesus and end up in hell separated from God forever.
