Signs of the End and Christ's Coming

Signs of the End and Christ’s coming Matthew 24 is one of the most debated and variously interpreted words of Jesus. Let’s just agree that what is contained in this chapter is difficult to understand but not impossible. If Jesus did not want us to know about these events, he would have remained silent. After all Jesus was answering three specific questions asked by His disciples. "The disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?" Matthew 24:3. We can agree on some points. One of these is that when Jesus pointed to the temple and said it will be destroyed, it was destroyed in A.D.70. Most of the remaining prophecies in Mathew 24 are on-going and some will take place in the future. There are on-going wars and rumours of wars, earthquakes and all kinds of natural disasters, but Jesus said it is not the end. There will be a great tribulation like never before which is...

Signs of the End - Don't Be Deceived

Signs of the End – Don’t Be Deceived Jesus said the end of times was to begin. How come we are still in the beginning and how far in the beginning are we? Are we close to the end of times? We certainly don’t know and cannot with certainty answer any of those questions. Any attempt to be precise to a date is anti-Christ. We are given enough guidance to live in these end-times, therefore, we are not confused but we must not be deceived. For sure with certainty, Jesus is coming back soon as He said. Be ready. Let’s hear what Jesus said regarding signs of the times and the end of the age. Matthew 24:1-14: “Then Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came up to show Him the buildings of the temple. 2 And Jesus said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Assuredly, I say to you, not one stone shall be left here upon another, that shall not be thrown down.” The Signs of the Times and the End of the Age 3 Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the discip...

Who Are You Weeping For? Weep Like Jesus

Who Are You Weeping For? Weep Like Jesus There comes a time when we are wounded so deep down into the core of our being. If you have not been there, you will. I can assure you of that. It is not if but when. It may be your own suffering but usually, it is about someone you love so dearly. It may be a child suffering unbearable pain from ill health and going through what you do not understand. It may be a teenager who has rebelled and gone his/her own way contrary to all you have taught him/her. A lost love? Have you been wounded deep down? What should we do when we are so wounded in our spirit? As disciples, we learn from our master and our Lord Jesus Christ. Here is Jesus weeping and lamenting for Jerusalem: 37 “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! 38 See! Your house is left to you desolate; 39 for ...

A Good Stroke – Update and Thank You - August 6, 2016

“A Good Stroke – Update and Thank You” “If there was a good stroke, you just had one.” These are words from the neurologist to me a day after I had suffered the stroke. Yes, it is a good stroke in God’s perspective. What the enemy meant for bad, God is using for good to conform me to the image of His Son Jesus Christ. I can now look back and narrate how God has used my stroke as platform for preaching the Gospel. So, like the beer commercial (this bud is for you), this stroke is for me. I thank God in and through it. I am doing much better from not being able to sit to standing, walking somewhat, raising my arm. It is a great improvement from where I used to be two months ago. I was in the ultimate weak and need-help position. Others bathed me and helped me dress up. I have learned to ask and receive help from others whom God send my way. It has been a life of paradox. I am weak but very strong in the Lord. I suffer pain and sometimes frustration (e.g. putting on my shoes) but ove...

In Religious Show Business?

In Religious Show Business? Jesus warns us about religious show and tell. There is something in all of us that likes to show off. Who are we really trying to impress? Are we trying to impress an all knowing God? Definitely not God who knows exactly what we are doing. God also knows our motives. So it means we are only trying to impress fellow humans. Let’s learn from the rebuke of the Sadducees and Pharisees by Jesus. “Their works they do to be seen by others.” Jesus is not saying don’t do good; but do it without announcing to the whole world. It is always good to ask: Why am I doing this? To be seen or just to please God? Our motive should be to glorify our Father in gratitude; for He already loves us and have saved us by His grace and not by our good works. Let us also watch out for using a different higher standard for others while excusing ourselves with a lower standard. That is what the Pharisees did. On one hand, we want God’s mercy and grace for ourselves but we deman...
