Guilty for being God

Guilty for being God

Emotions and words are flying high across America because of the President’s nomination to the Supreme Court. Everyone wants a judge who will render impartial and unbiased judgment from their own point of view. May we be reminded that our justice and salvation does not come from man or woman, the white house or out house but from the Lord, the righteous perfect Judge. Pray for the souls of Americans.

This world will never offer us justice because no justice was offered to the only guiltless and perfect Son of God. We are all guilty and rightly so but Jesus was never guilty. Stop pleading your innocence for we are not and accept His righteousness for yourself.

Today, we look at the mockery of justice in the hands of the chief priest and the Sanhedrins. Jesus was condemned to death for being God and for declaring that He is God. What an absurdity! I thank God that Jesus, as Messiah the Christ, took my place, my guilt and sin and have made me righteous forever.

Hallelujah! What a glorious Gospel and good news. Can you jump and shout with me? This is worth living for day after day; with the greatest hope and assurance of being made right with the Righteous and Holy God. Do you have any other Hope greater than Jesus, the Savior and Lord?

Let’s read the account of the greatest injustice ever. Matthew 26:57-68:

Jesus Faces the Sanhedrin

57 And those who had laid hold of Jesus led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. 58 But Peter followed Him at a distance to the high priest’s courtyard. And he went in and sat with the servants to see the end.

59 Now the chief priests, [k]the elders, and all the council sought false testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, 60 [l]but found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two [m]false witnesses came forward 61 and said, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to build it in three days.’ ”

62 And the high priest arose and said to Him, “Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?” 63 But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, “I put You under oath by the living God: Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God!”

64 Jesus said to him, “It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

65 Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, “He has spoken blasphemy! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy! 66 What do you think?”

They answered and said, “He is deserving of death.”

67 Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others struck Him with [n]the palms of their hands, 68 saying, “Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck You?”

Let us be very specific here. Jesus declared: He is the Messiah, He is the Son of God; He is God: He is the Judge and He is coming back as Judge and Ruler. Vs. 63-64. The authorities knew exactly what Jesus was declaring for it is already written by the prophets of old. Check it out in Daniel 7:13 and Psalm 110:1.

The Jewish authorities could stand a nice and healing Jesus. But they could not stand a Jesus who is the Messiah and God. Make no mistakes. It has not changed. People today will flock to the healing and loving Jesus but condemn the Jesus who points to their sin to pay for it.

The world continues to deny the deity of Jesus thereby condemning Him to death. The cults - the Jehovah Witnesses, the Mormons, the Muslims and many other subtle sets continue to propagate a Jesus who is not God. What is the big deal?

If Jesus is not God, He is not perfect; for only God is perfect. If Jesus is not God and perfect, He cannot atone for sins of the whole world for only a perfect sacrifice is needed for redemption, Hebrews 9:22-28. This is the truth of Christianity and any other is false. Jesus is the only way, the only truth and the only life giver. Never settle for another no matter how politically correct and tolerant it may sound.

Do you believe that Jesus is God? That is the real question and on this, you, me and the world will be condemned or set free from sin.

Today, this week, this year, your lifetime, give someone an opportunity to understand who Jesus is, that they may choose life or death forever. The Gospel is simple and you can explain it. Please do not complicate it. Jesus is God and He died, was buried, rose from the dead, ascended to heaven and He is coming again as Ruler and Judge of the whole world.

Here is the verdict:

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:16-18.
