Jesus is Risen - Big Deal!

Jesus is Risen – Big Deal!

So what that Jesus rose from the dead? What a big deal? It is the biggest deal ever and the biggest deal that will continue to be replicated in millions of lives forever. Jesus is alive and because he lives, we also who believe and trust in Him will rise from the dead and live with Him forever. Hallelujah!

Mary and the disciples, though initially did not comprehend and understand that Jesus rose “just as He had said”, they were thrilled to see Jesus again as the risen Lord. We too will see the risen Lord.

Not everybody was happy to know and see the risen Jesus then. In fact there were intentional efforts to silence the news with lies and payoffs (see Matthew 28:13-15). It is still same today. People will tell you that Jesus’ resurrection is your opinion and that it is fabricated. The Muslims and likewise many other cults, don’t even acknowledge that Jesus died and what more rising from the dead. People are being paid money in religions to silence the truth and spread lies from hell.

What is the big deal? “17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19 If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.” 1 Corinthians 15:17-18.

Yes, Jesus is risen indeed. Let’s read the account, believe, trust in Christ and tell the whole world the greatest good news ever – He died, was buried, risen, ascended to heaven and He is coming back for all who believe. Shout and jump for joy and then “worship Him” as the disciples did. Amen.

Now, let’s go tell someone today and forever as the disciples did. Telling others is faith with works. For faith without works is a dead faith. Do you believe that Jesus is risen? There is a hell for all who do not believe. Do you believe there is a hell? Do something. Don't let any go to hell even your worst enemy.

Mathew 28:1-15 Jesus Has Risen
After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3 His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 6 He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

The Guards’ Report

11 While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. 12 When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, 13 telling them, “You are to say, ‘His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ 14 If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” 15 So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day.

Note that the women were told twice, "Do not be afraid." but "Go Tell". Fear will stop you from telling people about Jesus. Don't let it stop you. The women enjoyed worshiping Jesus and hanging at His feet. However, Jesus still instructed them to leave and to go and tell others. We can't just hang out only in our church buildings to enjoy worship and not go out to the perishing world.

Lord help us to go and never to be afraid. Truth of the Word must go before our feelings. As we obey, the feelings of confidence and boldness will follow.
