Is Jesus God? and Who is a Child of God?

We continue our in-depth study of the Gospel of John. We are on chapter 1. We have asked and answered two most important questions – Is Jesus God? And, Who is a Child of God? John 1:1, 14 clearly tell us that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God”.

Also, “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us”, And 18 “No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God” (NIV). If we are not convinced of this truth, there is no need studying the Bible. Only a perfect God and God Himself can take on the form of humans and die for humans as a perfect sacrifice. This is a non-negotiable truth for us and for all of Christianity. This truth sets Christianity apart and different from every other religion. Christianity is therefore a relationship with the almighty God and it is not a religion.

It is not whether Christianity is better but it is the only answer through the preaching of the Gospel to a sinful world. Never sympathize with any other philosophy/religion in the lies of being politically correct and tolerant. We must respect, be kind and loving to everyone who does not believe in Christ as God, but we must not deny the uniqueness of our faith in Christ, our Savior. Jesus is all inclusive and welcomes all but Himself and HIS TRUTH is unique. He is the TRUTH. There is no other TRUTH. Yes, we are “close-minded” to Jesus, our God.

Who is then a child of God? “12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the [e]right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: 13 who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13. Only those who believe and have trusted in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior are children. The fake news will try to tell us that we are all children of God. Nope. We are are all created by God but all are not children of God.

Are you? Are my a child of God? We must answer for ourselves and I hope the Holy Spirit will help us answer it correctly.

"14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.[f] And by him we cry, “Abba,[g] Father.”16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory." Romans 8:14-17.

I trust the Spirit is testifying to your spirit that you are a child of God. That is who we are and nothing else matters if we are not.

If you are a child of God, then tell others about Jesus, the Savior of the world from the wrath of God that is coming on the unbelieving. Please keep in mind, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23. Receive Jesus today for you may not be here tomorrow.

May God empower us as we do so. If you have not yet trusted in Jesus Christ, may the Holy Spirit help you to acknowledge your sinful nature and repent and ask God to fill you with His Spirit to live a new life as a child of God. With God, nothing is impossible.
