Worship Only The Triune God

 Dear Saints:

We are made to worship. The question is who are we worshipping? Who is our God or god of worship? There are two gods to be worshipped. The TRUE GOD and the false god. All humans must choose between the TRUE GOD or the false god. There is the TRUE TRIUNE GOD and the false self-made and created god(s).

The daily contest of our lives is who is worthy of our worship. Is it the god of self, inspired by Satan and his demons and manifested in the excessive love of material things and worship of created things instead of the Creator? Or is it the TRUE TRIUNE GOD, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit who reveals and inspires us to worship the TRUE GOD?

We are back from summer break and continuing our study of the Book of Revelation in chapter 5. This chapter reveals our TRUE GOD to be worshipped as we encounter the Scroll. Who is worthy to open and read the Scroll? The Lamb that was slain, Jesus Christ is worthy. We thank God. “Worthy is the Lamb”. But what is the Scroll?

The Scroll and the revealing of its content will transition the end-time events into a new phase as we will discover in the coming chapters. It is going to be a period of the Great Tribulation and judgment to come on the earth. We thank God that we would already be in heaven. For now, let’s relish and worship the Lamb, Jesus Christ, and the One who sits on the Throne, God the Father.

Let’s read Revelation 5.

“And I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a scroll written inside and on the back, sealed with seven seals. Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seals?” And no one in heaven or on the earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll, or to look at it.

So I wept much, because no one was found worthy to open and read the scroll, or to look at it. But one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep. Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has prevailed to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals.”

And I looked, and behold, in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as though it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. Then He came and took the scroll out of the right hand of Him who sat on the throne”.

Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying:

“You are worthy to take the scroll, And to open its seals; For You were slain,
And have redeemed us to God by Your blood Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, 10 And have made us kings
 and priests to our God;
And we shall reign on the earth.”

11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, the living creatures, and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, 12 saying with a loud voice:

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain
To receive power and riches and wisdom,
And strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

13 And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

“Blessing and honor and glory and power
Be to Him who sits on the throne,
And to the Lamb, forever and ever!”

14 Then the four living creatures said, “Amen!” And the twenty-four elders fell down and worshiped Him who lives forever and ever.

The Scroll is the record of God and some have called it the title deed to the earth. Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of Lords and now this aspect of His divinity is coming into full display. The only One who died for the people on earth is worthy to have a claim to it and to judge and restore it to the original purpose of God. Jesus will rule and reign forever. Amen.

Jesus is Worthy. He is the Lord. He is God. He is God the Son. We see God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit in full display in this chapter 5 of Revelation.

The Trinity is a non-negotiable doctrine for us. Here is the definition of the Trinity. "Within the one Being that is God, there exists eternally three coequal and coeternal persons, namely, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit." (James White, The Forgotten Trinity, p.23 ).

Jesus is God and only God could have died and atoned for our sins as the perfect sacrifice. Don’t let the major cults (the Jehovah's Witnesses, the Mormons and the Muslims, etc.) confuse you with their denial of the deity of Christ. Only God is worshiped and we see the Lamb, Jesus Christ being worshiped here in this chapter and throughout the Bible.

Oh, Saints, our salvation is nearer than ever. We rejoice and worship our God for we will reign with Jesus on the earth.

Please note “And have redeemed us to God by Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation” vs 9.

There is still work to be done in calling all from “every tribe and tongue and people and nation” to our God. This is where we are now.

Will you do your part as a “Priest” ordained by God to proclaim the Gospel to all people? What are your plans and strategy? At least, you can order Gospel tracts to give people, even strangers. I have found the tract to be effective during this COVID-19 period when people are practicing social distancing. The written Word of God speaks and convicts.

The great tribulation and judgment are surely coming as we will see in the coming chapters of Revelation. You don’t want your worst enemy to experience it. Let's be intentional about sharing the Gospel and warning all of the coming wrath of God.

How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?” Hebrew 2:3-4.

Who will you worship today? Jesus is worthy of your worship.

Do you know this Jesus who died for you? Seek and find Him. Amen!
