The Word Of God The Most Powerful For Change

Dear Saints,

Do you know that your words are more powerful than an atomic/nuclear bomb? You say how can that be? On August 6, 1945, President Harry Truman's words commanded the release of the first atomic bomb on Japan.

The President's words came first before the bomb. About 80,000 people died instantly in Hiroshima, Japan. Now, that is the impact of words of a mere mortal man.

How about the words of God? I think you and I have not fully grasped and comprehended the magnitude of God's word. For sure, I have not. It's mind-boggling to think about the power and essence of God’s Word.

"By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap; He lays up the deep in storehouses.

Let all the earth fear the LordLet all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast." Psalm 33:6-9.

God's word created all things.  God spoke, and they came into existence.  "LET THERE BE LIGHT" THERE WAS LIGHT. Genesis 1.

Apostle Peter had first-hand experience of the Word of God Himself, Jesus Christ (John 1:1). Jesus just spoke, and it just happened. The first miracle was turning water into wine. Check it out. “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet” John 2:8.

Now listen to Apostle Peter address the Pilgrims in his Letter, reminding them what the word of God has done in their lives, transformation from ungodly to godly lives. It is the Gospel, the good news that can change any person.

No wonder we don't preach and tell others of the word of God because we have not fully comprehended the power of God's word.

Faith comes by hearing the word of God. Faith is acting on God's Word. Here is Peter:

"Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, 23 having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, 24 because

“All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers,

And its flower falls away, 25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.”

Now, this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.

Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious. 1 Peter 1:22-25; 2:1-3

Again, Peter reminds his audience and us, that we are “born again” by the word of God. The word of God is the best gift you can give anyone.

We must desire God's word just as a baby longs for the mother's milk. Do you want to grow in God, drink “the pure milk of the word.”

Peter outlines sins that can stop us from drinking and taking in God's word - "malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy and all evil speaking." When the well of your heart is poisoned by any of the above sins, there is no room for God's Word and His Word has no effect on you. Peter is speaking to believers in Christ so let us deal with these sins. They should never become our lifestyle or way of living.

Note that the word of God endures forever. Everything else will fail but not God’s word. God’s word is Himself. Listen to the psalmist.

“I will worship toward Your holy temple, And praise Your name For Your lovingkindness and Your truth; For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.” - Psalm 138:2

God’s word above His name? It tells me to hold onto God’s word above everything else. Hold unto God’s promises in His word because it never fails. Let’s read, meditate, pray, believe and speak God’s word to ourselves and others.

We are reminded that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Proverbs 18:21.

Lord, thank you for your Everlasting Word. Help me to cherish, desire, believe, obey and pray your Words. Please help me to speak your word of life to my hearers. Amen.

Holy Spirit, please continue to help me to obey by your enabling. Amen.

Listen to Paul’s parting words to the Ephesians whom he will see for the last time.  “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” Acts 20:32. Amen.

Who will you speak God’s word today to encourage and point them to Christ? His TRUTH IS His WORD that has set us and anyone that believes free.
