Be One Of The Shepherds - Merry Christmas!

Where are you at the moment? Are you looked down upon and doing the work nobody else wants to do? Are you in a stinking situation (sheep stinks) literally and figuratively? Are you in the dark where there seems like the light would not shine into? Welcome to the night of the shepherds in the Christmas account. Let's remind us as follows: "Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”  And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and sa...

All Glory To God - Grow in the Grace & Knowledge of Our Lord & Savior

Dear Saints,   All Glory To God, now and forever - Grow in the Grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.   We have finally come to the end of our study of 2 Peter. Let’s see how Peter ends and says goodbye to the pilgrims:   “You already know these things, dear friends. So be on guard; then you will not be carried away by the errors of these wicked people and lose your own secure footing. 18 Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.   All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.” 2 Peter 3:17-18.   This is the bottom line of life: “All glory to him, both now and forever.”   When all is said and done, we are created to bring glory to God. Who makes something that gives him a headache? No one, and neither does God. He gets joy in us. What else could He get from us?   To live and give glory to God, we "must" know more of Christ, our Lord, and Savior, and grow in His grace. We cannot ...

GLOBAL WARNING not Global Warming & TWISTED SCRIPTURES

Dear Saints, I woke up yesterday to a CNN headline, "Southern Europe burns under 'pizza oven' effect as extreme heat strikes globally." It further reads, "Blisteringly high temperatures are expected to continue across parts of southern Europe this week, as the continent braces for its second extreme heat wave, putting people's health at risk and setting the stage for wildfires." CNN online 7/19/23. It is the same story all over the world. Are these signs of things to come? The world hasn't seen anything yet. The Scripture is very true as we have been meditating on 2 Peter. Hear the words of Peter again: "But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. " 2 Peter 3:10. Listen to European forecasters: "Last week's "Cerberus" heat wa...

While Waiting For Christ's Return, Live For Him

Dear Saints, What do you do while waiting for a loved one who went on a distant journey to return?   You know for sure he is coming, but you don't know the exact time of arrival. Don't you wait patiently, knowing you will be overjoyed when you see him? Don't you prepare and clean the house and get other things ready?   Don't you make his favorite food and all that makes him happy? Don't you tell your friends, co-workers, other family members, and many others about the return of your loved one?   Don't you live with excitement and profound joy even when your loved one hasn't yet arrived?   Do you listen to a contrary message from someone who doesn't know your loved one and has not been in touch with him? Do you believe when this person says your loved one is not returning?   Do you engage in activities that would embarrass your loved one, knowing he may find you doing so when he returns? Do you start fighting with your neighbors, friends, and family and...

The Day of The Lord - Judgment & Righteousness

Dear Saints,   There are the last days; there is also the day of the Lord—two different things and events. One is a period, and the other is a fixed day/date.   Jesus spoke about both while answering the disciples' questions in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 7. Please read and study these words of Jesus in addition to the book of Revelation regarding the end times and the day of the Lord.   As we continue our study of 2 Peter, let us hear the apostle Peter speak about the day of the Lord, which is the day of Judgment on the earth:   "But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve Judgment.   11 Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, 12 looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day,...

Wholesome Thinking About The End Times

Dear Saints, As a man [woman] thinketh in his heart, so is he. What occupies your thinking and mind in these end times?   As we continue our study of 2 Peter, apostle Peter would now conclude his letter to his suffering pilgrim friends. His primary concern and encouragement are to renew their minds to wholesome thinking on the last days powered by the word of God.   Let's listen to Peter speak the word of God:   "This is my second letter to you, dear friends, and in both of them I have tried to stimulate your wholesome thinking and refresh your memory. 2 I want you to remember what the holy prophets said long ago and what our Lord and Savior commanded through your apostles.   3 Most importantly , I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires . 4 They will say, "What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the sa...

The End Worse Than The Beginning - False Teachers/Adherents (Part 3) - Be Warned!

Dear  Saints, Imagine driving on the road leading to Las Vegas. Along the way, many signs warn that the bridge has washed away. You keep on going and even increase your speed with your sunroof down. You are having a great time on this trip but have ignored the many road signs about the washed bridge. Who do you blame when you keep driving and end up in a bottomless pit where the bridge crosses?   The above scenario is close to the picture apostle Peter is painting in 2 Peter 2. False teachers and false living will land many people into the bottomless pit of hell. Unfortunately, this is where we are in present-day churches; it is the greatest deception. These are "wolves in sheep's clothing," according to Jesus.   Let's read Apostle Peter's final warning/conclusion:   "These people [False Teachers] are as useless as dried-up springs or as mist blown away by the wind. They are doomed to blackest darkness. 18 They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasti...

False Teachers/Evil Practices & Pending Doom - Be Warned! (Part 2)

Dear Saints, We continue our study of 2 Peter. In this short letter of Peter to the suffering pilgrims, he devotes an entire chapter out of three to warning about false prophets/teachers and false prophecies, deceptions, lies, evil living and the pending doom. God does not waste His words and does not speak unnecessarily. Every word from the mouth of God is essential. As such, we must pay close attention to this chapter 2 of Second Peter. Let us read from where we stopped the last time. “For God did not spare even the angels who sinned. He threw them into hell, in gloomy pits of darkness, where they are being held until the day of judgment. 5 And God did not spare the ancient world—except for Noah and the seven others in his family. Noah warned the world of God’s righteous judgment. So God protected Noah when he destroyed the world of ungodly people with a vast flood.   6 Later, God condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah and turned them into heaps of ashes. He made th...

False Prophets & Prophecies In Your Midst (Part 1) - Beware!

Dear Saints, A prophet speaks from God. If you speak and it's not from God and claims it's from God, and what you said did not come to pass, then you are a false prophet.   As we continue our study of 2 Peter, apostle Peter warns his audience about false prophets/prophecies already in their midst and more coming. In the previous chapter, he said a true prophet speaks from God. Listen to Peter:   "But there were also false prophets in Israel, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will cleverly teach destructive heresies and even deny the Master [Lord Jesus] who bought them. In this way, they will bring sudden destruction on themselves.   2 Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of these teachers, the way of truth will be slandered. 3 In their greed they will make up clever lies to get hold of your money. But God condemned them long ago, and their destruction will not be delayed." 2 Peter 2:1-3   You never can...
