"They Spoke From God" - The BIBLE

Dear Saints,

Knowing who is speaking, you listen even if you can't see the person. Many of us do not take the Bible seriously because we have not come to believe in the One speaking.

 

"In 2022, 49% of Americans view the Bible as inspired by God, but not everything in it is to be taken literally. 29% say the Bible is a collection of fables, history, and moral precepts recorded by man. And 20% of Americans say it is the actual Word of God to be taken literally."- Gallup Poll.

 

The Bible, a "fable?" Only 20% believe that the Bible is the actual Word of God. It's the Will of God we need to heed. Some have written Will when they die. The family, through probate, carries out the Will to the last word by court order. You get nothing from the estate if your name is not in the Will. Is your name in the Lamb's Book of Life?

 

As we continue our study of 2 Peter, the apostle lays the foundation/source for life and living. Jesus countering Satan, said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.' " Mathew 4:4

Let us listen to apostles Peter:

 

"Because of that experience [Jesus' Transfiguration], we have even greater confidence in the message proclaimed by the prophets. You must pay close attention to what they wrote, for their words are like a lamp shining in a dark place—until the Day dawns, and Christ the Morning Star shines in your hearts.

 

20 Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet's own understanding, 21 or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God." 2 Peter 1:19-21.

 

Peter is saying, yes, we had the Jesus transfiguration experience, but it is only confirmation of God's written Word and prophesies about Jesus Christ. As such, we better pay attention to Jesus Christ as God the Son. He is the source of life.

 

Our experience cannot trump the written Word of God. Again, Jesus said, "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life." John 6:63. The Word of God is the breath of God. You cannot live without breathing.

 

What is the Bible?

"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12.

 

Note that the writers of Scripture "were moved by the Holy Spirit" to write. Scripture is not people's ideas or suggestions. Do not believe the contrary. Most prophesies about Jesus have been fulfilled and others will be fulfilled in these end times. This fact makes the Bible God's Word/Truth.

 

Paul confirmed, saying,

 

"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Let us use the Bible for all the purposes listed.

 

Without faith, it is impossible to please God, and we must believe that God exists. Hebrews 11:6. Where does faith come from? "Faith comes from hearing and hearing by the Word of God.' Romans 10:17.

 

If you are not convinced and confident that the Bible is the Word of God, then you will listen to other false words. All truth comes from God.

 

My friend, you have not started living without hearing, listening, praying and obeying God's Word. Peter already said we have everything we need to live godly by His divine power through knowing God. You can't know God and his precious promises without reading and studying the Bible daily.

 

We eat physical foods daily. How much more should we digest daily the Word of God? I challenge you to read the Bible daily. In the next chapter, Peter will warn about false teachings and teachers. You need to know the truth to counter falsehood. We will study them next week.

Lord, thank you for your Word you have made available to us. Lord, please feed me today through your Word and grant me understanding and power to obey. Amen. Today, pray and send someone a Bible verse to encourage, lovingly rebuke, correct and instruct.

The Bible, the Word of God is the only book that can transform and transfer you from Hell to Heaven. It is too Powerful to be ignored.

The Day of The Lord - Judgment & Righteousness

Dear Saints,   There are the last days; there is also the day of the Lord—two different things and events. One is a period, and the other is a fixed day/date.   Jesus spoke about both while answering the disciples' questions in Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 7.
