What If Jesus Did Not Rise From The Dead?
The question implies that Christ indeed did rise from the dead. The question is more serious than the one I heard for the first time this week which asked, "Did Adam and Eve have belly buttons?" Did they, and what do you think? LOL.
Apostle Paul, answered the resurrection question. Let's read:
"For I delivered to you
first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins
according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the
third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by
the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once,
of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen
asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then
last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time."
1 Cor.15:3-8 - NKJV
The above scripture clearly states the empirical and
historical account and evidence of the resurrection of Jesus. This is an eye
witness account among many others in the Bible. In fact, it is the summary of
the entire gospel on which we stand.
But, what if Jesus had not risen from the dead? Again, we
listen to Paul:
"And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you
are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ
have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all
men the most pitiable." 1Cor.15.17 -19, NKJV
Good Friday is when we remember the death and burial of
Jesus. Without Christ's resurrection, Good Friday would mean
nothing. Yes, He died and was buried, but so what? Other people have also
died and were buried. Without Christ's resurrection, there is no
hope for us, no faith, no love of the Father to enjoy forever. Paul
actually said we will be the most "miserable or pitied" in this
present world if our faith ended in just the death and the burial of Jesus
Christ. In a nutshell, there's nothing to look forward to in this
present and future life without Jesus’ resurrection.
The resurrection is the seal and proof of God. If there was
no resurrection, there's no God. We live and die by the resurrection of Jesus.
Can you now see the uniqueness of our Christian faith as compared to millions
of other religions and gods?
I am a Christian because Jesus rose from the dead.
Evangelist, J. John of Britain put it as follows: Say you were walking
on a road and came to a T junction and you didn't know which way to go -
left or right. Then you looked and saw two men lying there. One of them is dead
and the other is alive, which one would you ask for direction? Obviously, the
man that's alive. Other religions of the world have leaders who are dead and
buried. Only our Jesus is alive. Yes, He died and was buried and rose from the
dead. Hallelujah!
Please look no further. Jesus is alive and because He lives,
we can face today, tomorrow and all fear of death is gone. He holds our future
and our present life is worth living because Jesus lives forever. Amen.
If you are on the sideline and still debating on trusting in
Christ, I invite you to do so right now. Maybe you are one of those CEO
Christians (i.e. Christmas, Easter, Only) and without firm commitment to Christ
as your Lord and Savior, please do so today. We are not guaranteed tomorrow and
it may be too late. Jesus Christ is the Only Hope for the present
life/world and forever. Amen.
Lord, thank you for rising from the dead. Thank you for
permanently securing my present and future. I love you and worship you forever.
Amen.
Jesus would not be our
Savior and Lord if He hadn't risen from the dead. We would have been heading to
hell and living forever without God. The resurrection was the ultimate
triumph over Satan, death and his demons. Hallelujah! Let’s confess and repent of
our sins, believe and trust Jesus with all our hearts and being.
Friend, Happy Resurrection
Celebration. Happy Easter!
Please introduce the Risen
and Living Jesus to a friend, neighbor, colleague or even your enemy. Everyone
should have a relationship with the only Living God. Amen.
Fyi, Adam and Eve did not have belly buttons because they
were not born from the womb of a woman. We will confirm when we get to heaven
lol.
