Do You Know The Only True God? - Happy Thanksgiving
Do You Know the Only True God? - Happy Thanksgiving!
Yesterday, while
preaching on the street, I asked three people, at different times, this same
question. They each gave me the same answer and said yes, they knew. Then I
asked who is He? They each said Allah. Then I said, the true God is Jesus. This
launched us into great discussions of the deity of Jesus Christ as He said He
is and explanation of the Trinity, the anchor of the Christian theology.
Friends and foes, there are as many false gods as at least the number of people
in this world. The many gods began when Adam and Eve bought the idea of being
gods. Listen to the encounter with Satan:
"The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit from the trees in
the garden. But about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God
said, ‘You must not eat it or touch it, or you will die.’” “No! You will
certainly not die,” the serpent said to the woman. “In fact, God knows
that when you eat it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing
good and evil.” Genesis 2: 3-7, CSB.
Satan said "you will be like God." In other words, you will be
God. With this new false identity, you can create and do everything God, the
true God can do. Great selling point by Satan. From the fall till now, all
humans want to be God, and think that they are a god.
The Mormons even teach
this nonsense of becoming gods with the power to creat universes after life here on earth. Some others have made symbols and idols to represent their false self-made gods.
Thank God, the true God, didn't leave us with our foolish stinking thinking. The
true God came to reveal Himself to us and restore us to Himself through His Son
Jesus Christ.
No wonder Jesus while comforting His disciples prayed before He left this world
as follows:
"Jesus spoke these things, looked up to heaven, and said, “Father, the
hour has come. Glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you, since you
gave him authority over all people, so that he may give eternal life to
everyone you have given him. This is eternal life: that they may know
you, the only true God, and the one you have sent —Jesus Christ." John
17:1-3. CSB
The problem of the whole world is that we did not know the true God.
Eternal life or everlasting life is "to know the only true God, and the
one you have sent" and to make Him known.
Everlasting or Eternal life is the only true life to live in Christ.
The opposite of everlasting or Eternal is temporary, transient, impermanent or
short lived life which Adam and Eve experienced immediately. They both
"died" a spiritual death as God had previously said to them (Genesis
2:16'17).
Jesus died physically to give us back and restore us to new spiritual life
which we lost.
We all have sinned and are spiritually dead. Unless we know the only true God,
we remain dead forever and separated from the true God.
How are you living - as a god or as trusting and believing the only true God? We must all surrender to the only true God.
Satan and the world want us to think and live as a god, meaning we can have
everything we want at our command. Even worst among those who believe in Jesus,
is the thinking that we can have everything we want by commanding the only true
God.
Satan was so devious and jealous that he convinced humanity to become like him.
That's to be a god and oppose the only true God. The true God cast Satan and his
converted demons down to earth. See Ezekiel 28:12-19, Revelation 12:7-9, Luke
10:18, and Isaiah 14:12.
Bottom line. Are you living an eternal life and do you know the only true
God in the person of Jesus Christ? Jesus is the only way to the true God, the
Father. John 10.
Let's be very clear. There is only one true God in the persons of God the
Father, God the Son, Jesus Christ and God the Holy Spirit. It is not
confusing and the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation teaches and explains
it. For just one example, listen to Jesus:
"I have glorified you on the earth by completing the work you gave me to
do. Now, Father, glorify me in your presence with that glory I had
with you before the world existed." John 17:4-5, CSB. Think about
that. Jesus has always existed as God. No human can share glory with the only true God except Jesus, who is God Himself.
What is our call today? It's to repent of our sins of thinking we are a god and
believe and trust Christ today and be saved and be reconciled to the only true
God and live eternally with Him forever. Amen. Any other concept of God that
does not recognize Jesus Christ as God is not the true God.
This is eternal life to know the only true God and make Him known. It is a
relationship not a religion. Please introduce friends, family and all to the
only true God during this period of Thanksgiving and beyond.
Lord, please continue to reveal yourself to me as the only true God that
I may know and worship you forever. Amen
Happy Thanksgiving. We can only thank the only true God
we know.
Thank you Jesus for dying for our sins and rising from death and coming back soon for your Church. Amen
