Bear Fruit; Don't Kill the Seed of God's Word in You

Bear Fruit, Don't kill the seed of God 's word in you

Most of us will say we believe God but is His seed, His Word bearing fruit in our lives? I have found that I am the number one enemy of seed bearing fruit in my life. Have you taken stock to see that in you ? I can blame the devil all I want but I have the great responsibility to believe in God and trust him. Believing the word of God is my part not God's part. God will not believe for you or me. That makes us humans and not robots.

Jesus Christ brings this point home in this chapter of the parable of the sower where cares of this world and deceitfulness of riches choke the Seed of God's word in anyone. When we are worried and consumed by our own cares, we rarely notice people around us who need to be loved and ministered to by the Spirit of Jesus in us.

There is no middle ground. We either believe God whom we have not seen or we don't. God is either true or he is not. God either exists or he doesn't. See Hebrews 11:6.

Everything in our lives comes down to believe. Without believing God you cannot be his child period (John 1:12). When you become God's child you must also believe he will take care of you. How many children are worried about paying the bills for mortgage and other upkeep expenses? None. Children trust their father or mother to take care of all.

Listen to Jesus explain the parable of the sower.

Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23

On the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea. And great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. Then He spoke many things to them in parables, saying:

“Behold, a sower went out to sow. And as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them. Some fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth. But when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them. But others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”

“Therefore hear the parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside. But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.”

Cares of this world is the greatest killer of God's word in us. What are you worried about that you think is beyond Jesus being able to handle? Let's cut to chase. Is it the greatest fear of all-death? It's been taken care of on the cross .

Here are the rest of our worries. Romans 8:35, 37-39 "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

So where are you right now? Will you give up the fear and unbelief? Let's let go and start bearing fruit that will remain forever. Only people who believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and savior will remain forever. Let's love them and tell them about Jesus so they can believe and become God's child. Let's believe God and become intentional not distracted by the world around us.

One last point deceitfulness of riches will choke the word of God from us. Wealth and riches can deceive any of us. Watch out.

1 Timothy 6:8-10 "And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows".

All that we have belong to God and must be used for his purpose. Stop for a minute and notice the people around you and see what the Spirit of God is saying about them and proceed to obey.

How many souls will be credited to our account? 100, 60 or 30? Heaven will reveal and I hope we will hear, "well done good and faithful servant". Amen.
