God Loved the World and Gave Jesus for Eternal Life

Dear Saints:

Today, we come to one of the most quoted verses in the Bible, John 3:16:

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

So, what is the big deal about the above Scripture. It is a big deal because, we see God initiating a love relationship and taking the first step to reconcile all His creation to Himself. God first loved, not just one person but the whole world – every human, every sinner, every murderer, every thief, every bad person, every not so bad person, everyone who thinks they are good but really they are not. God did not have to love the world. He choose to love the world.

God the Father, gave Himself, in the person of God the Son. A gift is not useful if it is not received from the giver, therefore, God’s gift is not a universal salvation to the whole world. If you believe and receive Jesus, then you are saved. If you don’t believe and receive Jesus, you condemn yourself to the judgment of God. The only provision to escape God’s judgment is to be granted the righteousness of Christ. And since all the world have sinned, we all deserve condemnation to a forever hell fire.

The Gospel is this simple. Believe and Receive Christ who died for your sins, then you will never perish but have everlasting (eternal) life. God will never and has never sent anyone to hell. People send themselves to hell when they refuse to believe and accept the payment for their sins on the cross. It does not matter how much good works of kindness you show to others. Yes, we should be kind and do good works, but there is only one criteria for eternal life – believe and receive Christ.

As if it was not clear enough, John says the same thing at the end of this chapter John 3:36 - 36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

Do you believe? Have you received and accepted the GIFT of God in the person of Jesus Christ? Have those in your household, your work place, your neighborhood, your school and etc., believed and accepted Jesus?

Today is the only day of repentance from sin, believing and receiving and trusting Jesus as Savior. Tomorrow is not guaranteed and we may never be here.
Can I imagine you jumping for joy if you have believed and received and accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior? I thank God for you and for the grace He has granted you to believe and trust in Him. Now extend the same grace to another and pray and introduce them to Jesus the Savior. Let them decide for or against Christ. You have done your job and good works.

Lord, thank you for your GIFT of love and for loving us while we were still sinners and being your enemies. Thank you for willingly adopting us into your family. Amen.
