Propitiation and Keeping His Commandments?

Dear Saints:

What is this big word “Propitiation”? I thought we are in the new Testament; and now you are saying we have to “keep His commandments”? 1 John 2:1-6:

"My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

The Test of Knowing Him

3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.”

From the dictionary:

“Propitiation (noun) the act of atoning for sins or wrongdoing (especially appeasing a deity). Synonyms: conciliation, placation, expiation, atonement.”

Jesus became our PROPITIATION. He appeased and satisfied the requirements of God to remove forever, our sins and the punishment for our sins forever. If He did this and He did, don’t you think we at least should love Him back and do what He says and love one another and any other as Jesus has loved us? His command is that we love one another and follow His footsteps.

The only evidence of Jesus in us is our love for all people. If you love anyone you don’t want them to go to hell; would you?

Jesus is the PROPITIATION for sins of “the whole world” and not just for Christians and all who currently believe in Him. He is the PROPITIATION for the sins of the fornicator, adulterer, the straight, the LBGTQ, the murderer, the police, the civilian, the President, the Congress Person, the Supreme Court Judge, the parents, the child, the single, the black, the brown, the yellow, the white, the in-between colors, the hypocrite, the priest, the lukewarm, the you-name him or her.

PROPITIATION IS NOT A RUBBER STAMP FOR CONTINUING TO LIVE IN SIN. It is the only provision and way out of sin and out of the life style of sin. We are reconciled to God by Jesus' atonement. We were all dead in sin and enemies of God.

Jesus is also our ADVOCATE. Jesus continues to plead for us because we do sin but we don’t live and practice sin as a lifestyle. We are exempt from hell forever. When the devil points at us, Jesus rises up and loudly say, “I died for that too. Case closed.” We must all confess our sins, repent and turn to Jesus as our Lord and savior. Jesus only advocates for those who have put their trust in Him. Jesus is first our propitiation and then our Advocate.

Hell is for those who do not believe in Jesus and who do not keep His Commandments. We cannot continue in sin that grace may abound. God forbid. (Romans 6:23)

Please let us not be fooled by all of the world’s solutions for the problems of our day. Jesus is still the only answer. He is the Only Way, The Only Truth and the Only Life. We do not apologize for this position. Let’s go and preach and live out the GOSPEL in LOVE.

Lord, thank you for your Holy Spirit that lives in us and helps us to “keep your commandments.”

You must appropriate and accept the grace of God through faith for atonement to be effective in your life and mine. Do so if you have not done so before. May the Lord empower you to do so. Amen.
