A Foiled Coup In Bethlehem - Merry Christmas!
Dear Saints:
The political maneuvering and joggling for power did not start today. Make no mistakes, someone wants to be in charge and be the king or ruler of every nation.
You think the political fight between Trump and Biden is anything new; think again. It pales compared to the contest between king Herod and a new King that has been born- King Jesus.
Most of the major ingredients are present in all power and kingship contests - fear, lying, deceit, cheating, plots and killings of the innocent (even young children outside and inside the womb). Let’s read the account of the wise men from the East who came to check out the new king. Matthew 2:2-3;16:
“Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.”
Please read the entire account in Matthew 2:1-23. Very interesting. Why would Herod and the people of Jerusalem be troubled and afraid at the news of a new king being born? I believe it is for the same reason people are concerned and afraid of the elections of today and change of government. People have come to put their trust in human leaders that any change shatters their hope and disruption of lifestyles.
More importantly is that people and our governments are "troubled" because they are not ready and willing to obey the true King Jesus who requires an inward change/repentance of heart and not superficial temporary manipulations.
Herod was insecure like most leaders of our time. These leaders inside themselves know and recognize that they are not really in charge. The presidents/leaders all over know of their insecurities but may not acknowledge it in the public. Herod wanted to kill Jesus but God outsmarted him – a foiled coup. Jesus, Mary and Joseph were already in Egypt. Herod ended up killing innocent children.
At the end, the real question is who will rule you and me? Which king or ruler will we submit and surrender to?
You may be a proud democrat, republican, independent or whatever party of your country you belong to; question is who are you surrendered to? Who do you think will deliver you and solve all the problems that ail America or any other nation on earth?
The true king wasn’t just a baby still in a manger that causes you to get goosebumps and spend unnecessarily money you may not have during this season. His name is called Jesus because He will save His people from their sins. His name is called Immanuel, God with us. He is 100% God and 100% human making Him a perfect sacrifice to atone for our sins.
King Jesus is the only One who will meet all the longings of humanity and satisfy us forever. He has come to restore humanity to Himself, God the Son, God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. He is restoring us to what He originally made which we had lost as a result of sin and disobedience. And the consequences of our sins and disobedience is death and torment in hell forever.
Friends, Christmas is the sweetest and the best news that had ever come to earth. “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end.” Isaiah 9:6-7.
Thank you Jesus my King and my Lord. Bye-bye and step aside Trump, Biden, Putin, Buhari, Merkel, Johnson, Xi Jinpin, Netanyahu, and etc. My true King is here and Him alone I will worship and adore now and forever. Amen. For He is the only One who has humbled himself and died for my sins on the cross. He rose again and ever lives to intercede for me.
No political figure or party can match who we have in Jesus. So, in this year and days of political noise, please chilax and trust in Christ and His all-sufficient death on the cross. Christ the King is all we will ever need/want.
King Jesus is still doing wonders and He is Wonderful; the greatest Counselor, He is the Mighty God (not an angel or just a good prophet), Everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace we need now and forever.
The wise men, “And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, and fell down and worshiped Him.” Matthew 2:11.
WISE men and women still bow down and worship Jesus Christ, the true and only King. Will You? Note that only Jesus is worshiped and not Mary or Joseph. Let's not make as idol worship of Mary, Joseph or any other created being like us. Yes, Mary and Joseph obeyed when God spoke to them. We too must obey and play our part.
Help others to worship Christ by introducing them to the good news of the Gospel. Imagine that Pfizer has decided to only give the COVID-19 vaccine to their family members and friends. People are dying left and right from COVID-19, but Pfizer does not not care? That's exactly what we are doing when we refuse to share the Gospel.
Do you want King Jesus to rule you? Then confess and repent of your sins and ask Him to forgive you and fill you with Himself, the Holy Spirit and you will be His forever as you trust in Christ. Amen
