GOD IS FAITHFUL
I am not sure if you are like me. I have noticed that I have not kept all the promises that I have made. I have lied in some circumstances just to get out of a bind. Is lying and not keeping promises a lifestyle for me? The answer is no. However, even one act of lying or not keeping a promise makes me guilty of the sin of unfaithfulness according to God’s standard. Compared to our Father in heaven, He has kept all His promises to me and has never lied to me. I thank God that He has been faithful to me even when I have not.
Romans 3:1-8
1 Then what’s the advantage of being a Jew? Is there any value in the ceremony of circumcision? 2 Yes, there are great benefits! First of all, the Jews were entrusted with the whole revelation of God.[a]
3 True, some of them were unfaithful; but just because they were unfaithful, does that mean God will be unfaithful? 4 Of course not! Even if everyone else is a liar, God is true. As the Scriptures say about him,
“You will be proved right in what you say, and you will win your case in court.”[b]
5 “But,” some might say, “our sinfulness serves a good purpose, for it helps people see how righteous God is. Isn’t it unfair, then, for him to punish us?” (This is merely a human point of view.) 6 Of course not! If God were not entirely fair, how would he be qualified to judge the world? 7 “But,” someone might still argue, “how can God condemn me as a sinner if my dishonesty highlights his truthfulness and brings him more glory?” 8 And some people even slander us by claiming that we say, “The more we sin, the better it is!” Those who say such things deserve to be condemned.
God will not change His character and what He has said just because I did not live up to my side of the covenant with Him. He did not change for His chosen Jews and neither will He change now. You and I should celebrate God’s faithfulness but not take advantage of it.
The devil’s mission is to convince us that God is unfaithful and a liar. Now look who is talking, the devil himself – the father of lies. Jesus answered the teachers of the Law and Pharisees who accused Him of lying, in
John 8:44You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
We are to be like out Father in Heaven and be faithful to Him and to people. Remember, God’s kindness to us is not because of our faithfulness but because of His love, grace and mercy on us. This is the confidence we have in Christ. Though we are unfaithful but He is faithful. We can trust and totally depend on our God.
Will you Trust Him today and declare like the psalmist, Psalm 100:5”For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations”
