REJOICE

Rejoice

The word of God, in many instances commands us to rejoice. In some instances, it is obvious and very easy for us to understand why we should rejoice. In some other instances, it is difficult to understand and practice being joyful. Let’s look at our today’s text in Romans.

Romans 5: 1-11

1Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a]have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we[b] rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3Not only so, but we[c] also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. and hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

you see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

9Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God's wrath through him! 10For if, when we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! 11Not only is this so, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

Why should we rejoice?

We have peace with God. Our rejoicing is necessitated by the fact that we now have peace with God. Previously we were enemies of God.
We stand on the grace of God that “increases more than our sins”. God’s grace is abundant for us though not to be taken for granted.
In what circumstances and for what things should we rejoice? We are instructed to rejoice for the following things:

Rejoice in hope of the Glory of God. We have hope of His coming and can confidently look forward to the future. Hey, you have a great present and a future.
We are to rejoice in our sufferings of the present time. (“We can rejoice, too, when we run into problems and trials, for we know that they help us develop endurance. 4 And endurance develops strength of character, and character strengthens our confident hope of salvation. 5 And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.) Romans 5: 3- 5 NLT.
We are to rejoice because we have been reconciled to God through Christ. I am not sure about you but I want to be reconciled with God. I do not want to be his enemy.

Now you can see why apostle Paul says, in Philippians 4: “4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Do you have a problem, tribulations or difficulty? We all have problems. Rejoice. Give God thanks for His abundant Grace on you. You have more reasons to rejoice than you think or than Satan is making you believe.

Please do not forget to let your face know you are rejoicing inside. Brighten up and shine for Jesus. You have so much going for you. Amen.
