What Are You Hearing?

What Are You Hearing?

Faith comes by hearing the word of God. You would think the bible would have said, “faith comes from our previous experience of a miracle”. Both “saving faith” and faith for our daily living come from the word of God. There is no other means of faith except through the word of God. It is also a gift from God (Ephesians 2:8-9). Who are you hearing and have they been sent to you by God?

Romans 10: 12-17
12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."[f]
14How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"[g]
16But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our message?"[h] 17Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ

Not everyone who is speaking to you and that you are listening to have been sent by God. Only those sent by God speak the word of God that produces faith in God. We have to discern who has been sent to us. We have a choice of what and who to listen to. I do not have to listen and watch everything that is on TV even it is a religious program.

Whom have you been to sent so you can encourage by God’s word and produce faith in them? No one will ever believe God without faith and it comes from His word. The issue is not what we are believing God for, but whether we are believing God. Are you believing in God and His word? God is our object of our faith and belief. When God is not the object of our faith, we get into the “name and claim it gospel”. When it does not happen the way we named it, we get disappointed with God. Anything that does not draw us to God is not faith and it is not coming from Him. Are you waiting to see what God will do before you believe? Then it is not faith.
Only God can open our eyes to see and believe in Him.
18But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did:
"Their voice has gone out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world."[i] 19Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says,
"I will make you envious by those who are not a nation;
I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding."[j] 20And Isaiah boldly says,
"I was found by those who did not seek me;
I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me."[k] 21But concerning Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.” (Romans 10:18-21)

Now what do you say? Is your faith your own making or God’s gift? We live by his mercy and grace. Be a conveyor of God’s gift of faith to someone today. Speak the word of God to someone and encourage them to faith in God.
