Necessity of the Holy Spirit
Dear Saints:
A Christian without the fullness of the Holy Spirit, that is being surrendered completely to the leading and guidance of the Holy Spirit is like a car that has the gas/petrol gauge on empty; it can still start, run a little bit but cannot go too far without being stranded and out of gas. You and I need the fullness of the Holy Spirit at full operation in our lives. HE IS A MUST HAVE IN OUR LIVES.
Today in John 16 (please read the entire chapter), Jesus is giving the disciples the bad news and the good news; and they are distressed by the bad news. The bad news (but not really bad) is that Jesus is going away to the Father in heaven. Oh how we hate the going away and separation news in our own lives. But listen to the GOOD NEWS:
“It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. 8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; 11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
12 “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. 14 He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. 15 All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.” John 16:7-15.
Various translators had the following for verse 7: “to your advantage”, “It is expedient”, “best for you”, “profitable for you”, “better for you”, “for your good”, “for your benefit” … that I go away.”
Why and what is the advantage and benefit? The advantage is that we will have the Holy Spirit living in us. Awesome! God Himself living in us and being with us 24/7. Jesus, instead of physically being present only in Jerusalem, is now in us and all over the world where His disciples are.
It gets even better. The Holy Spirit will convict the world of sin, so that we don't have to do so but to just preach Christ and His Gospel to all people. The Holy Spirit tells us all truth, guide us, tells us of things to come, reveals Jesus to us and glorifies Jesus through our living according to His leading and guidance. You can’t bit that; that the God of the universe lives in us, who can be against us.
We can boldly live and speak for Him even in the midst of persecution and trials as Jesus announced to His disciple and us: “2 They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. 3 And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me.” John 16:2-3.
Friends, be filled and keep on being filled and surrendered to the Holy Spirit today and forever (see Ephesians 5:18) Lets study, pray and fall more in love with the person of the Holy Spirit. Holy Spirit, please continue to reveal yourself to us and lead us always to the truth. Amen.
Talk and converse with the Holy Spirit today and forever and do what He says to you and testify to others. Amen.
"7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7.
Are you living in the fullness of the Holy Spirit or are you just winging it on you on own limited strength?
If you have never done so before; You can right now ask Jesus to forgive your sins, be your Lord and Savior and fill you with His Holy Spirit so you can live for God the rest of your life in power and victory. Amen.
