TROUBLED? - BE OF GOOD CHEER!

Dear Saints:

There are troubles everywhere in our individual lives, the family, the nation and the world.

The latest trouble that is troubling everyone all over the world is the corona virus. It started in China and has killed many and spreading worldwide. Let us not be surprised. It is a messed up world because of our fallen nature from Adam and Eve’s sin of not trusting God. Jesus has warned us of troubles in today’s lesson and has given us great HOPE in Him.

Lord, we plead that you help put a stop to this pandemic. Forgive us Lord and have mercy on this world and heal our land and people from our sins and diseases. Amen.

We are studying John 16 (please read the entire chapter) and please hear Jesus:

33 “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (NKJV).

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 (NIV).

We do not have anything to fear. Our Lord Jesus has overcome the troubles of the world. He has overcome the greatest trouble that troubles us, that is sin in us. He is above the troubles of this world and because He now lives in us by His Holy Spirit, we overcome in the midst of our troubles.

Let’s not forget the words of Jesus at the beginning of this discourse, John 14:1 ““Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.” We must believe and trust God at all times and not just when we came to faith in Jesus for the first time.

Let us go forth in the confidence we have on the finished work of Christ on the Cross. We have been saved by grace and continue to be saved by grace at all times. Our lives in Christ is not dependent on our observances of traditions and holy days/seasons. Thank God. Our goal is to obey His command to love one another and love other people as Jesus has loved us.

Let’s meditate on Romans 8 in the midst of whatever is going on in our lives and in the world of today. Amen

“If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.

34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? 36 As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:32-39. Amen and Amen

This is the best time to share the Gospel with the unbelieving in Christ. People are afraid of what is happening and of things to come. Introduce them to Christ so that they may have true peace. Who will you encourage to trust in Christ today and in this season?

Have you believed and trusted in Christ as Lord and Savior?

What is troubling you today?
“Be of good cheer” and “Take heart” today and forever. Amen. I thank God, that Jesus is interceding and praying for us even right now. You can’t bit that.

May the Lord bless you and may His face shine upon you, protect and grant you the peace of Christ forever. Amen.
