One On One With God - Happy Thanksgiving!

 Dear Saints:

One on One with God!

Have you ever engaged in any one on one sports like tennis? You can’t run and you can’t hide. Just the two of you on the court.

At the end of the day, God our Father and Creator plays a one on one with us from beginning to the end of  life here on earth and also life forever. God is a personal private God who knows us by name. Yes, God knows where you are right now and what you are going through. This is very comforting and very hopeful. Please be at rest and peace. Amen!

Today, we start a new study and the third Epistle of John. It’s a private personal letter written by Apostle John to a guy named Gaius. What would a personal letter from God to you and me look like? What would be the issues of primary concern that God will write about? How would you respond to God’s private letter to you? Also what if God’s private letter to you is made public for everyone to read?

Let’s just get a peek into God’s one on one with Gaius.  We will get into the details later.  3 John:

1 “The Elder,

To the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth:

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

Gaius Commended for Generosity

Beloved, you do faithfully whatever you do for the brethren and for strangers, who have borne witness of your love before the church. If you send them forward on their journey in a manner worthy of God, you will do well, because they went forth for His name’s sake, taking nothing from the Gentiles. We therefore ought to receive such, that we may become fellow workers for the truth.

Diotrephes and Demetrius

I wrote to the church, but Diotrephes, who loves to have the preeminence among them, does not receive us. 10 Therefore, if I come, I will call to mind his deeds which he does, prating against us with malicious words. And not content with that, he himself does not receive the brethren, and forbids those who wish to, putting them out of the church.

11 Beloved, do not imitate what is evil, but what is good. He who does good is of God, but he who does evil has not seen God.

12 Demetrius has a good testimony from all, and from the truth itself. And we also

bear witness, and you know that our testimony is true.

Farewell Greeting

13 I had many things to write, but I do not wish to write to you with pen and ink; 14 but I hope to see you shortly, and we shall speak face to face. Peace to you. Our friends greet you. Greet the friends by name”.

I thank God that the first thing God expressed to Gaius through John is His love for him. “To the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth”. The same goes for us. I thank God for His love for you and me. His love covers a multitude of sins. In this year of unprecedented 2020, we thank God for everything especially His unconditional love in truth.

Nothing can separate us from God’s love. 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:37-39.

Happy Thanksgiving
