"The Days Are Evil" Redeem the Time
Dear Saints:
The days have been evil not just in our time but since Adam and Eve disobeyed God by not trusting God and wanting to be God themselves. The Lord who made them was no longer sufficient for them, so they wanted more. Nothing has changed. The days are still evil. People are still making themselves their own gods. Are you your own god evidenced by total lack of faith and trust in Christ?
Thank God He did not leave us alone to escape the evil days by our own ingenuity and smartness. We thank God for our Savior Jesus who has transformed us from darkness to be light in this world.
We are not afraid of the evil days for we are confident in the Lord because greater is He (God the Holy Spirit) who is in us than he (the devil) who is in the world. (1 John 4:4).
We must therefore understand the times we live in and redeem it for the glory of God. We do not run from the darkness but run to it and the light of Jesus in us will shine in the darkness. Darkness disappears when light shows up. Our help today and forever is still the Holy Spirit who lives in us and that is why we must “be filled with the Spirit” and continuously being filled with the Spirit.
Yes, the Holy Spirit has been given to us. Does the Holy Spirit have complete control in our lives as the alcohol spirit controls the drunk? If you are in control of your life, the Holy Spirit has less control of you. Let us ask the Holy Spirit, moment by moment what we need and ought to do in these evil days.
Do not do what seems right in your own eyes. Lord, please have all of me today and forever. Amen.
Who do you know that is still in darkness that you can shine the light of Jesus to today? It is not enough to complain and lament on the evils of the day. Pray and do whatever the Spirit leads you to do.
Listen to Paul in Ephesians 5:8-21 below and see what the Spirit accomplishes in us and through us – light of the world, wisdom to speak, songs to the Lord, encouraging one another, giving God thanks always and submitting to one another.
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light 9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.
12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 14 Therefore He says:
“Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light.”
15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.
You can only redeem the time if you have already been redeemed by the Redeemer Jesus Christ. Today is the day to put your complete trust in Christ's death on the cross for the forgiveness of your sin. Tomorrow may be too late. Lord, I repent of my sins and ask you to be my Lord and savior. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit to live the new life in you. Thank you Lord. Amen.
May the Lord grant you and me wisdom and boldness to redeem the time in these evil days. Amen.
